For a specific college football game, start with the availability report from the relevant conference—or the College Football Playoff (CFP) for a playoff game. Check that the policy covers the matchup, note when the report was issued, and use that league’s definitions. An early status is a time-stamped snapshot, not a diagnosis or a guarantee that a player will—or will not—play.
Where can I find a team’s college football injury report?
Look first for the official availability report published by the conference governing the matchup. For a CFP game, use the CFP’s availability reporting page. These reports are the best starting point for the listed status, but their coverage and schedules differ by league and season.
- Big Ten: football availability reporting
- College Football Playoff: student-athlete availability reporting
- ACC: 2025-26 policy announcement
- Pac-12: 2026 player availability reports
Before relying on a report, match it to the game and check its date or timestamp. A conference policy may cover conference-opponent games but not every non-conference matchup. The Pac-12 says non-conference reporting depends on whether the opponent and its conference participate, so a missing report for such a game does not by itself confirm that every player is available.

There is no single schedule for all of college football. The policies below are season-specific examples; verify the current policy and report for the game you are following.
#1 Best Overall
| Reporting system | Scope and timing | Status details |
|---|---|---|
| Big Ten, 2026 | Four reports per week, from three days before through game day, for games against conference opponents. | Midweek: Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, Out, or Out (1st Half). Game day: Game Time Decision, Out, or Out (1st Half). Players not listed are considered available under this policy. |
| ACC, 2025-26 | Football report two days before each conference game, followed by an update the day before and on game day. The game-day report is two hours before the game. | Pre-game: Available, Probable, Questionable, or Out. Game day: Available, Game Time Decision, or Out. |
| Pac-12, 2026 | Reports three, two, and one day before conference matchups, plus a game-day report no later than two hours before the publicized game time. Non-conference participation is conditional on the opponent and its conference. | Use the labels shown on the applicable report; the cited policy announcement primarily specifies timing and coverage. |
| CFP, 2025-26 | Initial report three days before each game, daily updates, and a final report 90 minutes before kickoff. | Before game day: Available, Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, or Out. Game day: Available, Game Time Decision, or Out. |
The schedules and labels above come from the Big Ten’s Aug. 28, 2026 announcement, the ACC’s July 22, 2025 policy, the Pac-12’s Sept. 12, 2026 page, and the CFP’s 2025-26 policy. Do not apply one league’s timing, labels, or rule for unlisted players to another league.
What does “questionable” or “game-time decision” mean?
Use the definition given by the league that issued the report. Labels are availability categories, not a shared medical scale across college football. They do not establish a diagnosis, the injured body part, or a prognosis.
The ACC’s July 22, 2025 announcement says a student-athlete may be listed when availability is uncertain for any reason, including injury or illness, an academic or eligibility issue, or a personal or family matter. It says only the status—not the specific reason—is made public. Therefore, an ACC listing should not automatically be described as an injury report about a specific medical condition.
Is a player playing this week? A careful way to verify
- Find the official report for the matchup. Use the conference’s report for a covered conference game, or the CFP page for a playoff game.
- Confirm the report covers that game. Check whether it is a conference-opponent matchup or whether non-conference reporting applies.
- Record when it was issued. Distinguish an earlier-week update from a game-day report; scheduled updates mean an earlier status may change.
- Read the issuer’s status definitions. Do not infer another league’s rules from familiar-sounding labels. Treat an unlisted player as available only when that policy explicitly says so, as the Big Ten policy does for its covered games.
- Corroborate claims beyond the report. Look for a direct coach statement or reporting attributed to a named reporter, and check whether other reliable coverage agrees. Anonymous social posts, recycled claims, and screenshots without a traceable original remain unconfirmed.
- Describe only what the evidence establishes. For example: “listed as questionable on the report issued Tuesday.” Do not convert that status into a prediction that the player will or will not play.
Does the NCAA publish live player-by-player football injury updates?
The NCAA Injury Surveillance Program is intended for research and health-and-safety purposes, and its data is deidentified. It is not a live, player-specific availability feed. The NCAA’s separate 2026 announcement about an availability-report pilot concerns Division I men’s and women’s basketball championships; it says the system would not be implemented for other NCAA championships in 2025-26. It should not be treated as a universal college football reporting requirement.
