To find outfit dyes in Ghost of Yōtei, check dye houses and regional merchants as you explore, then return to the Black Dye House after completing “The Way of the Shamisen” if its stock seems limited. After finishing the main story, New Game+ adds a separate way to earn cosmetics with Ghost Flowers. Patch v2.0 also lets you keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats.
Where to look for dyes during the story
Dye houses and regional merchants are the main places to check for recolors and other cosmetic options while progressing through the story. A game guide reports that dye houses offer weapon and armor recolors, while merchants in regional hubs also sell cosmetics. Stock and availability can vary, so treat these as places to investigate rather than a complete list of every dye or vendor.

Check the Black Dye House after a quest gate
The guide reports that the Black Dye House has limited wares until you complete the main quest “The Way of the Shamisen.” If you have visited and found little available, check your quest progress and return after completing it. This stock condition is specific to the Black Dye House; it should not be assumed to apply to every merchant.

How to unlock more cosmetics after the story
Completing the main story unlocks New Game+ from the title screen. The mode carries over gear, upgrades, cosmetics, resources, and collectibles, and lets you replay completed objectives for Ghost Flowers. Exchange Ghost Flowers with the new vendor for additional cosmetics, charms, and two armor sets. Sucker Punch Productions described the vendor’s stock as including more than 30 new cosmetics, including armor sets and weapon dyes, plus 10 charms.

Use one armor set’s look with another set’s stats
Patch v2.0 adds an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using a different set’s stats. This separates the look you want from the equipment bonuses you need. Sucker Punch’s announcement confirms the feature but does not give a menu path or control sequence, so check the in-game armor or appearance options after installing the patch rather than relying on an unverified set of button instructions.
PlayStation announced patch v2.0 for October 1, 2026 globally, with October 2 availability in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The patch also adds the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, which includes armor and dyes. It is included with the Complete Edition or available through the Complete Edition Upgrade. Availability can depend on your territory and installed version.

Do you need a special edition for dyes?
No. The ordinary in-game routes include story-era dye houses and merchants, plus the Ghost Flower vendor in New Game+. Edition bonuses are separate: the Complete Edition includes Digital Deluxe Armor Dye, and the original Digital Deluxe Edition was announced with an alternate dye for the starting armor. These bonuses are not prerequisites for ordinary dye customization.
