To find Metroidvania games, start with Steam’s dedicated Metroidvania category. On PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, search the term directly and narrow results with the broader genre options available. On Xbox, try the same keyword, then check specific game listings because a current dedicated category or filter was not verified. On every platform, confirm that the game, edition, and price are right for your region before buying.

Steam’s category is useful for discovery, but it is based on tags rather than a universal official definition of the genre. It may not include every game you would consider a Metroidvania, and its contents can change.

The cited Browse page is for the US Store. Its visible filters include broad genres, not a dedicated Metroidvania genre, and other regions may present different options.

Nintendo’s instructions establish keyword search and broad genre refinement, not a dedicated Metroidvania filter. The genres and results available can depend on your regional store.
