Start with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Kansas State Park Entrance and Camping Fees page, then check the specific park in KDWP’s reservation system if you need a campsite or cabin. The fee page’s annual permit amounts are labeled 2025, so verify the live rates for your trip year rather than treating those figures as confirmed 2026 prices.
Where to check Kansas state park fees
Use KDWP’s official entrance and camping fee page for permit types, listed charges, and purchase information. For campsite or cabin availability, follow KDWP’s official reservation route and select the park you plan to visit. Prices and availability can depend on the park, site, and travel dates.
Check the date attached to the rates before budgeting. KDWP’s fee page labels its annual vehicle and camping permit amounts 2025, and its dated announcement says those annual permits covered 2025. The figures below are therefore reference amounts from KDWP materials, not confirmed 2026 rates.

How much does it cost to enter a Kansas state park?
KDWP requires a State Park Vehicle Permit at all Kansas state parks. The charge is based on the vehicle entering, not the number of people in it. A Kansas State Parks Passport is a separate registration-linked option for eligible Kansas vehicle owners.
#1 Best Overall
| Vehicle permit option | KDWP amount surfaced | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Annual vehicle permit | $25.00 standard; $13.75 for eligible Kansas residents who are seniors or disabled | Fee page labels the annual amount 2025; confirm the rate for your trip year. |
| Daily vehicle permit | $5.00 standard; $3.25 for eligible Kansas residents who are seniors or disabled | The fee page says daily permits are available at the specific park office; confirm the selected park’s purchase instructions. |
| Kansas State Parks Passport | $15.50 | Available through Kansas vehicle registration and expires with the vehicle registration. |
These amounts come from KDWP’s fee page and dated 2025 permit announcement. Check KDWP for current prices and eligibility before buying.
Do you need a separate permit to camp?
Yes. A vehicle permit covers park entry; overnight camping requires a separate camping permit. KDWP charges camping by camping unit, with a processing fee for each stay. The annual camping permit does not cover utility hookups or designated prime-site charges.

No. KDWP’s reservation terms say a campsite reservation covers the campsite, while vehicle permits are sold separately. When estimating an overnight trip, count the entry permit for each vehicle that needs one, then add the campsite permit and any applicable site or utility charges.

How to verify and buy before your trip
- Open KDWP’s fee page. Review the vehicle and camping permit sections, noting the year shown beside annual rates.
- Choose the right vehicle permit. Compare daily and annual use, and check whether the Kansas registration-linked Passport fits your situation. Confirm the selected park’s daily permit purchase method.
- Build the overnight total separately. Add the camping permit to vehicle entry, then check for utilities, a prime-site fee, or other designated site charges.
- Check availability and park-specific terms. Use KDWP’s reservation system for campsite and cabin listings. KDWP says campsite reservations are generally available April 1–September 30; from October 1–March 31, sites are first-come, first-served. The reservable share varies by park.
- Confirm arrival payment instructions if you have no reservation. KDWP describes paying at a park office or permit station, but self-pay station availability depends on the park. Check the park’s instructions before counting on self-pay.
KDWP state park gift cards can be redeemed online at CampItKS.com and in person at KDWP locations for vehicle permits, camping fees, and reservations, according to KDWP’s gift card information.

KDWP’s reservation terms list campsite check-in and check-out at 2 p.m.; cabin check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out is noon. A weekend campsite reservation requires a two-night stay covering Friday and Saturday night. The terms also say a reservation may be canceled if the guest has not arrived within 48 hours, unless prior arrangements have been made with the park office. Check the current terms and specific park listing when you book.
