To connect with people for Samsung Health walking challenges, open Together on an Android phone, finish setup, then use Friends to add someone with a QR code or invite link. Adding a Together friend is not the same as sharing health data; Samsung provides a separate Health Data Sharing feature for that.
Find Together and finish setup

Open Samsung Health on your Android phone and tap Together.

If prompted, tap Get started, connect your contacts, confirm your phone number, and follow the setup prompts. Samsung says contact connection is required to participate in challenges and other Together activities. See Samsung’s US Together guide.

Open Friends. When prompted to connect, choose QR code or Invite to add someone.

Samsung says you can invite someone who has not previously used Samsung Health, but that person will need a compatible phone and the app to use Together. Screen labels and steps can vary somewhat by region and app version: Samsung’s older Canadian guide, for example, describes an Add control next to Friends. See Samsung Canada’s guide.

What you can do with Together
Together is Samsung Health’s social feature for walking challenges with friends and participation in Global challenges. Samsung describes two friend-challenge formats:

Get there first: participants race to reach a set step target.

Go the farthest: participants try to accumulate the most steps during a set period.

Manage contacts, step visibility, and challenge invitations
Contact access helps Samsung Health connect people for Together. Samsung’s app listing says Contacts are used to check Samsung account sign-in and create the Together friend list. In Together settings, Samsung says you can control these options:

Keep contacts synced: turn contact syncing on or off.

Who can see your step count: choose Anyone, Friends, or No one.

Who can send you challenges: choose Anyone, Friends, or No one.
These settings are described in Samsung’s US guide. Contact syncing and challenge participation are separate considerations: switching syncing off does not change the guide’s stated requirement to connect contacts to participate in Together activities.

A Together connection is for challenges and step-count features; do not treat it as permission to view someone’s broader health records. Samsung describes a separate Health Data Sharing workflow, including inviting family members by email or Samsung account, on its South Africa product page. Because that information is regional, check the Samsung Health app and Samsung support for your location to confirm availability and menu names.
Check Android compatibility
Samsung says Together is available on Android phones. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing states that Samsung Health requires Android 10.0 or later; compatibility can depend on the device and local availability. The listing showed Samsung Health version 7.00.6.011 dated September 7, 2026, but that is a listing snapshot, not a universal version requirement. A Galaxy Watch or other accessory is not needed to find or add friends; Samsung lists those accessories as optional connections to Samsung Health.
