There is no single nationwide map or universal opt-out for Flock Safety cameras. To find out whether cameras operate near you, identify the local organization that owns or administers the system. If it is a participating neighborhood system, ask whether its optional Safe List feature can remove your vehicle from images captured by that system.
How to find Flock cameras near you
Start with local sources; camera deployments and public information vary by jurisdiction. Check your city or county police department’s automated license plate reader (ALPR) or surveillance pages, city council agendas and minutes, procurement records, and any public transparency portal. A local government page such as Mill Valley’s FLOCK Safety ALPR and Camera Use page shows the kind of information some jurisdictions publish, but it is not a national camera directory.
If those sources do not identify a system, contact the likely operator and ask it to confirm whether it owns or administers Flock cameras in your area. Depending on the deployment, that organization could be a police department, homeowners association (HOA), business, school, or another group. Ask for the current locations and the name of the person or office responsible for the system.

- Contact the system administrator. Ask the agency, HOA, property manager, business, or other operator—not just the camera vendor—who controls the local system and its settings.
- Ask specifically about neighborhood Safe List. Flock’s FAQ describes Safe List as an optional feature for neighborhoods that opt in. In a participating neighborhood, residents may be able to register a vehicle so it is marked as belonging to a resident, and the FAQ describes an option to have a resident’s vehicle removed from captured images.
- Confirm the process and coverage. Ask who handles registration, what proof of residence is required, which vehicles are eligible, how long processing takes, which cameras are included, and how you can verify the result.
- Request the answer in writing. Keep the administrator’s response and any confirmation of registration or removal so you can see what the local setting actually covers.
What an opt-out does—and does not—establish
The Safe List description is conditional on a neighborhood opting into the feature. It does not establish that registering a vehicle prevents capture by police, business, or other neighborhood cameras, or that it deletes records already held in separate systems. Treat the scope as limited to the participating local system unless its administrator confirms otherwise.

Flock says, “Sharing your Flock Safety camera footage with law enforcement helps solve and prevent crime in your community and surrounding area.” That is the vendor’s description of the benefit of sharing, not an independently measured outcome. Its privacy and ethics materials and trust-center materials describe customer control over sharing and platform safeguards such as access controls and audit logs. Those statements do not establish how a particular local system is configured or used; check the local policy, agreement, and records.
What to ask the local operator
If the operator confirms a system, ask for the information that determines how it works in your area:

- Who owns the cameras and administers the system?
- Where are cameras placed, and is a location map publicly available?
- What information is collected, how long is it retained, and who can search it?
- What rules govern search access, sharing with other agencies, and participation in broader networks?
- Are audit logs available, and what local policies or agreements govern use?
- Does the system offer Safe List or another resident exclusion option, and what is its exact scope?
- How can residents raise a complaint, and who can change settings or end the arrangement?
Flock’s materials identify customer choices as consequential, so a request to the local decision-maker is more likely to clarify or affect local configuration than a request to the vendor alone. For a private neighborhood deployment, ask the HOA board or property manager who approved it and whether the board can change settings or end participation. For a government deployment, contact the agency and elected body responsible for the policy or contract.
How to request records or escalate unanswered questions
Ask the city clerk, agency records officer, HOA board, or business system owner for relevant contracts, policies, minutes, camera maps, and retention rules. Public disclosure rights vary by state and by who holds a record, so whether a specific document must be released depends on local law.

Recent scrutiny is also part of the context: the Associated Press reported on August 13, 2026, that Flock announced platform changes amid scrutiny from lawmakers, civil-liberties advocates, and the public, and that agencies use its cameras for investigations. That report does not tell you which features or rules apply where you live; the local operator’s current policies and records remain the relevant source for your neighborhood.
