Start with your state judiciary’s official website, then follow its links to the business court, applicable rules, forms, clerk instructions, and current fee schedule. There is no single national set of business-court rules or filing fees. Before relying on a form or paying a fee, confirm the court and division, county, case type, filing event, and document’s effective or revision date.

Where do I find business court rules in my state?

Go to your state judiciary’s official website and search its courts directory or site for “business court.” If the state has a dedicated business court, open its official home or practice page. Use that page’s links to locate the controlling documents rather than relying on a search snippet or an unofficial copy.

Look for more than one layer of procedure. A business court may have statewide rules as well as division-specific rules, administrative or standing orders, and clerk instructions. Check each document’s scope and revision date, and determine whether general statewide civil rules also apply.

Texas illustrates why this matters: the Texas Judicial Branch’s Business Court practice page groups statewide rules and forms with links to division-specific guidance. Its court overview also links to divisions, counties served, statutes, and the fee schedule. Those are Texas resources, not a template for another state.

Where can I get business court forms?

Use the forms page linked from the court’s official website, then match each form to the procedural step you actually need. A case-information sheet, corporate disclosure, request for issuance, and attorney-admission application serve different purposes; one does not substitute for another. Read any form instructions and check for division-specific requirements or required cover sheets.

The Texas practice page, for example, lists a Business Court Case Information Sheet, corporate disclosure statement, request-for-issuance forms, and pro hac vice application materials. Its page also shows why dates matter: the search listing available for this guide reported local rules revised October 1, 2026 and administrative rules revised July 1, 2026. Verify current documents and dates on the official page before filing.

Georgia’s official State-wide Business Court rules, orders, and forms page is another example of a court collecting those materials in one place. Its search listing reported rules effective August 1, 2021; check the current rule text and date on the court’s site rather than assuming that listing remains current.

Confirm the court, jurisdiction, and venue before choosing a filing path

Finding the right form does not establish that your case belongs in business court. First confirm that the dispute meets the court’s subject-matter jurisdiction requirements and that the correct county and division are served. Then determine whether the rules require direct filing or allow a case to be transferred or removed from another court.

For Texas, Government Code Chapter 25A addresses jurisdiction and procedures including transfer, dismissal, removal, and remand. The statute authorizes the Supreme Court of Texas to set business-court filing fees and adopt procedural rules, so consult the current statute and court rules together. The Texas court overview identifies divisions in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Houston and links to county and division information.

When a state has multiple courts, divisions, or routes into business court, check these points before filing:

  • Whether the dispute and requested relief fall within the court’s subject-matter jurisdiction.
  • Which county and division serve the case’s location.
  • Whether the matter is filed directly, transferred, or removed, and what procedure applies.
  • Which statewide rules, local rules, orders, forms, and clerk instructions govern that route.

How much does it cost to file in business court?

There is no uniform business-court fee. Find the current fee schedule from the specific court or clerk that will handle the filing. Match the fee to the filing event: starting a complaint, filing an answer or first appearance, transferring or removing a case, or having an existing case accepted into business court may have different charges. Check for local add-on fees and fee-waiver information as well.

For a dated local example, the Second Judicial District Court’s Washoe County filing fee schedule is marked effective September 30, 2025. It lists $1,515 to initiate a Business Court complaint, $1,468 for an answer or first appearance, and $1,359 when a case is accepted into Business Court after commencement and/or payment of an initial civil appearance fee. These are amounts for that court and schedule, not statewide or national guidance; verify the schedule before filing.

The Arizona Judicial Branch’s court filing fees page makes a related point: each court level has its own schedule, and individual courts may charge additional local fees. Use that as a reminder to check the particular court, not as evidence of another state’s fee rules.

What to verify immediately before filing

  1. Reopen the official court page. Confirm you have the correct court, division, and clerk rather than an old or unofficial copy.
  2. Check rule and form dates. Review effective or revision dates, any amendments, and instructions attached to the exact form you will use.
  3. Confirm the filing route and method. Check clerk instructions for the accepted submission method, required cover sheets, and whether fees are payable at filing.
  4. Match the fee to the event. Verify the applicable line item, local add-ons, and any fee-waiver process on the current schedule.
  5. Keep the documents you relied on. Save or print the official rules, form, instructions, and fee schedule used for the filing.

These checks help locate authoritative materials; they do not determine whether a particular dispute qualifies for business court or which filing route is legally appropriate.
