Open Google Find Hub (formerly Find My Device) and check the headphones’ current or last-known location. If the headphones are switched off, Android generally cannot get a new live location from them; any location shown may be where they were last online or detected. Finding offline headphones is not the same as finding a powered-off phone: Google’s powered-off finding guidance applies to supported phones, such as Pixel 8 series, not headphones.
Can I find my Bluetooth headphones if they are turned off?
Usually, you cannot get a fresh location from headphones that are fully switched off. Find Hub may still show a saved location from when the headphones were online, or a location reported while a supported accessory was detectable through the network. Treat that result as a clue, not proof of where the headphones are now. Google’s guidance about locating certain devices for several hours after shutdown is specifically for supported phones, including Pixel 8 series; it does not establish that headphones have the same capability. Google’s Find Hub help explains the distinction.
How do I find lost Bluetooth headphones on Android?
- Check Find Hub. Open the Find Hub app or visit android.com/find, then sign in to the Google account used with the headphones. See whether the model appears. Google says the mobile app provides the best results for finding items through its network.
- Add a previously paired accessory if the option is available. On Android, open Settings > Connected devices, select the headphones, and look for “Find when disconnected” > “Add.” Menu names and availability vary by Android version and manufacturer. Google notes that some steps require Android 14 or later.
- Interpret the map carefully. An offline result can be a stored location from when the accessory was last online or detected; it is not necessarily a live position. Google describes encrypted stored locations for offline finding, and Sony says its app can display the last-known location after a device is turned off once located.
- Search the location and likely route. Check the charging case, pockets, bag compartments, furniture gaps, and places where you used or removed the headphones. If you think they are nearby and still powered, try any available ring or nearby-finding feature. Whether ringing works depends on the headphones and app; Google describes ringing connected headphones.
- Check the manufacturer’s app and model-specific instructions. Find Hub support is not universal across Bluetooth headsets. Sony advises owners to check the product Help Guide; its documented Find My Device flow requires the headphones to be powered on and paired before use. Sony’s guidance is model-sensitive.
Can Find My Device show the last location of my earbuds?
It may. Find Hub can show an offline item’s last known or stored location if the headphones were compatible and set up before they went missing. Google’s current service name is Find Hub, though some older references still say Find My Device. A compatible accessory generally needs to have been added in advance: Google’s setup guidance describes accepting the Fast Pair prompt to add headphones, or adding a previously connected accessory through Connected devices when that option is offered. What to do if the headphones do not appear
- Confirm you are signed into the Google account that was used to set up the headphones.
- Check Connected devices for a “Find when disconnected” option and add the accessory if available.
- Look in the headphone maker’s own app and consult the specific model’s help guide; compatibility and behavior differ by model.
- Use the last place you remember wearing or charging them to guide a physical search. A missing listing does not prove the headphones are nearby or that Android can track them.
How to make the next loss easier
Before a loss, check whether your headphone model supports Find Hub and enroll it while it is paired and powered. You can also attach a compatible Bluetooth tracker tag to the headphone case. The tag can help locate the case; it cannot locate headphones that have been separated from the case or track headphones that are switched off. Google’s Find Hub help describes compatible tags and item finding.
