Yes—award-flight search tools can help you compare flights bookable with points or miles across the programs they support. To find a deal that works for you, compare more than the points price: check taxes and fees, stops, travel time, cabin, and whether you can book through a program you can use. Treat search results as leads, then confirm the itinerary and price with the airline or loyalty program before transferring points.

What an award-travel search tool does

An award-search tool looks for flights with award availability in supported airline or loyalty programs. Instead of checking programs one at a time, you can search across the providers the tool covers. Coverage varies, so a tool cannot show useful options from programs it does not support. Check its current supported programs against your points balances and the partners you can actually use. PointsYeah describes searching supported programs in one search; Seats.aero describes its award-availability service and booking handoff.

These are not necessarily cash-fare search engines, and finding a result is not the same as booking it. Award seats, prices, and program terms can change. A search result does not guarantee the seat will still be available when you try to reserve it.

Choose a search based on how flexible your trip is

If your destination or dates are flexible

Start with a discovery feature that searches from your home airport or region, or across multiple dates, to find destinations with award availability. Seats.aero distinguishes its Explore tool for discovering destinations when you are flexible from Search for trips with known dates and destinations. Its guide says the two can be used together. See Seats.aero’s Explore versus Search guide for its description of the workflow.

If you know where and when you want to travel

Use a specific route-and-date search, then compare the available itineraries. With PointsYeah, its guide says to enter departure and arrival airports, date, traveler count, and cabin; you can also optionally select preferred airline or bank programs. The guide describes the product’s workflow and fields, not an independent test. Read PointsYeah’s search guide for its current instructions.

How to compare award-flight results

Do not sort by points alone. A lower redemption can be a poor fit if it brings higher cash fees, extra stops, a longer trip, or a cabin you do not want. Compare the full itinerary and whether the redemption is usable through a program where you can book.

Choose a tool by coverage, flexibility, and access

What to check Why it matters
Program and airline coverage Results only help if the tool supports programs and airlines relevant to your balances and booking options.
Trip flexibility Flexible travelers may benefit from destination or multi-date discovery; fixed trips need precise route-and-date searches.
Result detail and filters Useful details help you compare fees, cabin, stops, duration, carriers, and other trip constraints instead of points alone.
Search range and freshness Search windows and refresh behavior depend on the service and sometimes the plan. Check current limits with the provider.
Alerts and access Find out whether alerts, expanded searches, and filters are included or require a paid plan; features can change.
Booking handoff Confirm which airline or loyalty program will accept the redemption and complete the reservation.

A comparison by NerdWallet, updated August 28, 2026, discusses options including Points Path, PointsYeah, Seats.aero, and point.me. Its picks are the publication’s editorial assessment, not an objective ranking for every traveler. The right choice depends on the programs you can use and whether you need broad discovery or a search for a specific trip.

Verify availability before moving points

  1. Open the booking airline’s or loyalty program’s own site and search for the exact flight, dates, cabin, and passenger count.
  2. Confirm the seat is available for the intended award redemption, then check the points price, taxes, fees, and booking rules.
  3. Only after confirming that the program can book the itinerary should you decide whether to transfer points. Transfers may be subject to program rules, so review those terms before proceeding.
  4. Complete the reservation through the airline or loyalty program. Seats.aero says it does not book flights or sell points; the traveler books through the airline or program.

What to know about tool claims and changing features

PointsYeah’s homepage reports that 800,000+ travelers have joined, that it handles 60M+ annual searches, and that users save an average of 5+ hours per trip. These are company-reported figures; the page does not state a year for them, and it does not provide a method for the time-saved claim in the cited product information. They are not independent measures of how much time or money an individual traveler will save.

Supported programs, search limits, refresh behavior, alerts, plan access, and airline award rules can change. Check the providers’ current details and the booking program’s terms when you search.
