Zelle works with the banks and credit unions listed in its official enrollment finder. Search for your institution there; if it participates, you’ll generally enroll and use Zelle through its mobile banking app or online banking. The directory changes, so check it directly rather than relying on a static list.
Which banks and credit unions offer Zelle?
Zelle’s searchable directory includes banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions. Examples shown in the finder include Chase Bank, Citi, U.S. Bank, and USAA Federal Savings Bank, as well as many credit unions. These are examples, not a complete or permanent list: search the live finder for the institution you use.
Zelle says its service is available in over 2,400 banking and credit-union apps, according to its support page accessed in 2026. Separately, its partner page reports 2,200+ participating financial institutions based on Zelle Network data from 2024. Those figures count different things—apps and institutions—and should not be treated as an exact current count of banks.
How to check whether your bank has Zelle

What you need to enroll and send money
Both sender and recipient need eligible checking or savings accounts. Zelle says transfers between enrolled consumers typically arrive within minutes, but account eligibility and the institution’s rules still apply. Confirm the details with your bank or credit union before relying on a particular account or transfer time.
If enrollment fails, one possible cause is that the mobile number or email address you’re trying to use is already enrolled at another bank. See Zelle’s enrollment and app-change guidance, then contact your institution if you need help resolving the issue.

Is Zelle still available through its standalone app?
Zelle’s official FAQ says the standalone app is changing and directs former standalone-app users to enroll through a participating bank or credit union to continue using the service. Use the current app-change instructions rather than older guides that may describe the standalone app.
Are Zelle transfers free?
Fees depend on the financial institution and account. Zelle reports that a Q1 2026 survey found 99.40% of linked consumer checking and savings accounts did not charge to send, receive, or request money. That is a survey result, not a promise that a specific account is free; verify fees with your institution.

What to compare if you are choosing a bank
Zelle’s published information does not provide a reliable like-for-like comparison of individual institutions’ terms. If Zelle availability matters when choosing where to bank, check these details directly with each institution:
-
Whether Zelle is available in its app or online banking, and which account types are eligible.
-
Sending and receiving limits, fees, and any institution-specific transfer timing.

How enrollment works and which institution handles customer support.
Zelle’s partner page reports that, based on Zelle Network data from 2024, participating institutions’ mobile banking apps could reach over 143 million consumers. The same page reports $1T+ in network volume and 5B+ transactions. These are Zelle-reported network figures for 2024, not a comparison of individual banks.
