On PS5, open Games > Game Library > Your Collection, select the purchased game, then choose Download. On PS4, open Library > Purchased, select the game, then choose Download. The game installs automatically. If it is missing, locked, or stuck downloading, check the account, purchase history, sharing settings, and download queue.
Find and download the game on your console
PS5
- From the home screen, open Games > Game Library > Your Collection.
- Select the game you bought.
- Choose Download. The game installs automatically. Some games let you start playing after part of the game has copied, while the rest continues installing.
PS4
- Open Library > Purchased.
- Select the game.
- Choose Download. The game installs automatically.
Menu labels can vary by region or system software version. Sony’s PlayStation Store download guide provides these console steps.
Download an add-on instead of the base game
If you bought downloadable content, a season pass, or another add-on, it may not appear as a separate game in your library.

Open Games > Game Library > Your Collection, select the relevant game, then open its Add-ons section to find available content.

PS4 add-ons
Open Library > Purchased, select the game, then choose PlayStation Store > Your Add-ons. Select the arrow beside the add-on to download it. Some digital extras, including season passes or in-game currency, may be applied to your account through its service list rather than downloaded as a game. Start a download from a browser or phone
You can queue a purchased game for a console from PlayStation’s website or the PlayStation App.

From a web browser
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that owns the game.
- Select your avatar, then open Game Library > Purchased.
- Select the game and choose Download.
From the PlayStation App
- Open Game Library > Purchased.
- Select the game.
- Choose Download to Console.
Remote downloads depend on the console and automatic-download setup. For a PS5, sign in to the account on the console; for a PS4, the console must be activated as that account’s primary PS4. If automatic downloads are off, the download may start the next time you turn on the console. Check Sony’s remote-download guidance for the applicable setup.

- Confirm the account. Sign in with the PlayStation account that bought the game. A purchase belongs to the buying account; using a different account can make it appear unavailable.
- Verify the transaction. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Transaction History. On PS4, go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Wallet > Transaction History. Only the family manager can view family members’ transaction histories.
- Check hidden games. A game hidden from the library is hidden in the libraries of all consoles, so check the hidden-games setting if it does not appear.
- Check sharing if another person bought it. On PS5, the owner can enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on the console. On PS4, the owner can activate it as their primary PS4.
- Restore licenses. If the purchase is confirmed but the game remains absent, use the console’s license-restoration option.
For purchases or extras that are associated with your account but are not a downloadable game, check the account’s service list. Sony’s transaction history and service-list guide explains where to find both.
If the game has a padlock
A padlock can indicate a license problem, but it can also relate to network access. First establish which account or entitlement should provide access:

- One-time Store purchase: confirm you are signed in to the account that bought it and that the transaction appears in its history.
- PlayStation Plus access: confirm the relevant membership is active and, for a catalog game, that the game is still available in the catalog.
- Another person’s purchase: check that the owner enabled the appropriate console-sharing setting. Sharing does not transfer ownership to your account.
After checking access, confirm PlayStation services are working and the console has current system software. Then restore licenses: on PS5, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses; on PS4, open Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses. What console sharing does—and does not do
On PS5, find the setting at Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play. Only one PS5 can have this setting enabled for an account at a time. Other users of that console can play games and media the account purchased and downloaded, including while offline. PS4 uses the owner’s primary-PS4 activation instead.

- Play games streamed from your PS5 or PS4 console to your PC via the PS Remote Play App
Some PlayStation Plus benefits can be shared on one PS5 with Console Sharing and Offline Play and one primary PS4. However, benefits such as redeeming Plus games on another account and online storage are not shared. See Sony’s benefit-sharing details.

- Pause and resume it. On PS5, open Downloads/Uploads in Control Center, pause the download, then resume it. On PS4, open Notifications > Downloads from the function screen and try the same.
- Cancel the queue item and retry. If pausing does not help, cancel and delete the download, then find the game in the library and start it again.
- Check for a service alert. A PlayStation service interruption can prevent Store downloads.
- Update system software. Install the current system software for your console.
- Check storage and connection. Confirm that the console has enough free space for the game and that its network connection is working. Sony’s download troubleshooting guide explains how to check required and available storage.
If the basic steps fail, Sony lists rebuilding the database through Safe Mode among its later troubleshooting options. If the problem persists, contact PlayStation Support with any error code, what you did to reproduce the problem, the date and time of an access attempt, and a screenshot or video if possible.
