Find a game in PlayStation Store using Search or its browse sections. To download a game you already own, open your account’s game library, choose the title, and select Download. The menu path depends on whether you’re using a PS5, PS4, web browser, or PlayStation App.
Find a game in PlayStation Store
You can browse or search PlayStation Store on a console, on the web, or in the PlayStation App. In the US Store, the visible navigation includes Search, Latest, Collections, Deals, Subscriptions, and Browse; labels and layout can vary by device or change over time. See PlayStation Store.
- Search: Use this when you know the game’s name. Check the title and edition before selecting it.
- Browse: Explore categories such as Latest, Collections, or Deals to discover games.
- Wishlist: Save a game you may want to revisit. Store availability and pricing depend on your region and account.
If you haven’t purchased a game, select the edition you want in the Store and follow the on-screen purchase instructions. If you already own it, use your library to start the download.

From a web browser
- Sign in to your account on PlayStation Store.
- Select your avatar, then open Game Library > Purchased.
- Choose the game and select Download. On mobile web, select the download icon.
On PS5
- From Games home, open Game Library > Your Collection.
- Select the game, then choose Download.
- Wait for installation to begin. Some games let you copy and play part of the game while the rest installs.
On PS4
- Open Library > Purchased.
- Select the game, then choose Download.
- Installation begins automatically.
From PlayStation App
- Open Game Library, then choose Purchased.
- Select the game and choose Download to Console.
For the App method, your console must be linked to the App. Sony’s download instructions cover the current routes for web, PS5, PS4, and App.

Start a download remotely
Web and App downloads can be started from another device, but the console must be set up to receive them. Sony’s requirements are a PS5 signed in with the account that owns the game, or a PS4 activated as that account’s primary PS4. Automatic downloads must also be configured; otherwise, Sony says the download starts the next time the console is turned on. Menu labels can differ with console software versions, so follow the current system settings on your device.
Download a game’s add-ons
Add-ons appear separately from the base game. Use the route for your device:

- PS5: In Game Library, open the game’s Add-Ons section and select Download.
- PS4: Select the game in Library, choose PlayStation Store > Your Add-Ons, then select the arrow beside the add-on.
- PlayStation App: Select the game in Game Library, open Add-Ons, then choose Download to Console.
If a purchase is missing or a download won’t start
- Confirm the account: Make sure you’re signed in to the account used to buy the game.
- Check transaction history: If an item you purchased is missing, Sony recommends checking your transaction history.
- Check the console setup for remote downloads: Confirm that the console is signed in with the owning account or, for PS4, activated as its primary PS4. For App downloads, confirm the console is linked.
- Use Sony’s troubleshooting guidance: The download support page links to download and add-on troubleshooting.
Choose the right PS4 or PS5 version
Some PS4 games can be upgraded to a digital PS5 version, but eligibility depends on the title; an upgrade is not included with every PS4 game. If you own both versions, Sony says you can switch between them on PS5 using the options button. Check the game’s Store listing or its support information for the options that apply to that title.

Uninstalling a purchased game to free space does not remove it from your online library. Sony UK says purchased games can be reinstalled from the library and may be downloaded to the console’s HDD or a compatible external hard drive. Storage compatibility depends on the console and drive; check Sony’s guidance for your model before choosing an external drive. Read Sony’s storage support guidance.
