Start with the company’s official Investor Relations website, open its Results, Reports, Financial Reports, Interim Reports or Downloads archive, and search using several labels such as “half-year financial report,” “interim report,” “interim financial statements,” “six-month results” and “first-half results.” Select the formal report for the correct fiscal period and entity scope, rather than a results announcement or presentation. If the issuer’s site is difficult to navigate, use the regulator or exchange filing database for the company’s listing.
What you are looking for
A company’s six-month disclosure may be published as a formal half-year financial report, interim report, interim financial statements or a similarly named filing. It is often displayed beside a shorter results announcement, an investor presentation, a webcast, a transcript and spreadsheet supplements. Those files are related, but they are not interchangeable.
The formal report normally contains the financial statements and accompanying notes for the six-month period. An announcement may highlight selected figures and management commentary. A presentation is designed for an investor briefing, while a webcast or transcript records the explanation given to analysts. Your first task is therefore to identify the document that matches your purpose, then verify its period, scope and file format before downloading it.

Begin on the company’s official Investor Relations site
Find the investor section
Enter the issuer’s official website and look for a link labelled Investor Relations, Investors or Shareholders. Within that area, inspect sections named Results, Reports, Financial Reports, Interim Reports, Financial Information or Downloads. Companies commonly organize documents by financial year, reporting period or publication date.

Issuer archives illustrate the variations. Deutsche Börse Group maintains an interim-reports archive arranged by year. Munich Re places its half-year report on a results page with other investor materials. EQT Corporation’s quarterly-results area groups information by period and document type. These layouts are examples, not a universal standard, so follow the labels used by the company you need.
Use the site search when menus are unclear
Search the issuer’s own domain for the company name, the relevant year and one of these phrases:
- half-year financial report
- half-yearly report
- interim report
- interim financial statements
- six-month results
- first-half results
- results for the six months ended [period-end date]
Do not assume the exact phrase “half-yearly financial results” appears on the page. One company may use “half-year report,” while another uses “interim financial statements” or “first-half results.” Add the fiscal year or period-end date to narrow results when the archive contains several years.

If the issuer’s archive is missing, moved or difficult to search, use the official filing database for the market where the company is listed. Search by the issuer’s legal name or ticker, then filter by reporting period and report type.

The Spanish securities regulator CNMV, for example, provides an interim-financial-reports query that identifies the issuer, publication date and report type. Its results distinguish individual (standalone) half-year reports from consolidated (group) half-year reports. That distinction can prevent you from downloading a legally valid document that covers the wrong entity scope.
Other markets use an exchange disclosure portal, a national regulator database or both. The correct portal depends on the company’s listing and jurisdiction; there is no single worldwide repository. If the company has multiple listings, check which market’s filing you are viewing and compare the document with the issuer’s own Investor Relations archive.
Identify the formal report among related files
Results pages often present several downloads in one period row. Use the file title and description to determine what each item is for.

HKEX’s Investor Relations examples list results announcements, financial statements, presentations, webcasts and an interim report as separate items. Vienna Insurance Group similarly lists a half-year financial report, news release, presentation, financial supplement, teleconference audio and transcript. The presence of several files does not mean they are duplicates; choose by purpose and retain the formal report when you need the filing itself.

Check the period, fiscal year and entity scope
Confirm the six-month period-end date
Read the cover page, title and reporting-period line. Verify both the fiscal-year label and the exact date at which the six months ended. A company’s fiscal year may not follow the calendar year, so “half-year 2026” might cover a period ending in a month other than June. Issuer pages may describe the same disclosure as “results as at” a date or as the first half of a named fiscal year.
Check whether the report is individual or consolidated
An individual or standalone report covers the legal issuer itself. A consolidated or group report combines the parent and its subsidiaries under the applicable accounting rules. Choose the scope that answers your question: a parent-company statutory filing is not a substitute for the group’s operating results, and a group report is not a standalone statement for the parent.
Read the publication date
Record when the document was published, not only the period it covers. A six-month report can be issued weeks after the period-end date, and an amended or reissued file may appear later. If two files have similar names, prefer the one with the current publication or revision information shown on the official page.

- Open the official period entry. Navigate to the fiscal year and half-year or interim-results section on the issuer or filing portal.
- Read the document label. Choose the link explicitly described as the half-year financial report, interim report or interim financial statements when you need the formal filing.
- Check the format before saving. A PDF is common for the report; a spreadsheet may be a separate supplement. VIG’s archive, for example, identifies its 2026 half-year financial report as a PDF and lists spreadsheet data separately.
- Save the original file. Use a filename containing the issuer, fiscal year, period and document type, such as
Issuer_FY2026_H1_Interim_Report.pdf. Do not replace the original with a converted or compressed copy. - Confirm the download completed. Compare the file extension with the page label, check that the file opens, and make sure the page count is not zero or unexpectedly small.
- Keep the source page details. Record the issuer, period-end date, publication date, document title and whether the report is individual or consolidated. This makes later verification possible if the archive changes.
Validate the PDF or spreadsheet after downloading
A successful download does not by itself prove that you have the correct filing. Use this checklist before relying on the numbers:

- The issuer’s legal name and, where shown, registration or listing details match the company you intended.
- The cover or first page identifies a half-year, interim or six-month reporting period.
- The fiscal year and exact period-end date match your search.
- The report states whether figures are consolidated or individual.
- The publication or approval date is visible and is the current version listed by the issuer.
- The file contains financial statements and notes, rather than only presentation slides or a press release.
- Any “unaudited” or “limited review” status is noted; do not describe the document as audited unless the report says so.
- Currency and units, such as millions, are read from the statements before you compare values.
For a spreadsheet supplement, inspect the workbook tabs and headers. A data file can be useful for calculations but may omit accounting policies, explanatory notes and management commentary contained in the formal report.
Understand jurisdiction-specific filing deadlines
Disclosure timing is governed by the rules of the company’s market, not by a universal half-year calendar. The Hong Kong Main Board Listing Rule 13.48(1), for example, describes a requirement for an issuer to send an interim report or summary interim report for the first six months no later than three months after the end of that six-month period, subject to the conditions stated in the rule. That three-month example applies to the specified Hong Kong rule context; it should not be transferred to another country or exchange.
When a report seems late, check the issuer’s fiscal calendar and the applicable regulator or exchange rule. A company with a non-calendar fiscal year will have a different period-end and corresponding deadline. The official filing portal and the issuer’s disclosure notice are the appropriate references for the current timetable.
Common problems and how to resolve them
The search returns only a press release
Add “interim report,” “financial statements” or the exact six-month period-end date to the search. Then open the Investor Relations results archive rather than the general news page. A release may link to the formal report, but it is not automatically the report itself.

Several files have almost identical names
Compare the document-type words in each title and the description beside the link. Select the file marked report or financial statements for the formal disclosure. Use the announcement or presentation only when you specifically need the summary or briefing material.
The company uses a different fiscal year
Search by the period-end date and fiscal-year name shown in the issuer’s archive, not by “January–June.” Confirm the six-month dates on the report cover before downloading.
You found a standalone report but need group results
Return to the regulator’s filters or the issuer’s document list and look for “consolidated,” “group” or an equivalent scope label. CNMV’s interim-report query is an example of a database that presents individual and consolidated choices separately.

The PDF link is broken or the archive moved
Use the site’s current Investor Relations search, then try the relevant exchange or regulator filing database. Compare the retrieved file’s title, period-end date and publication date with any announcement still visible on the issuer’s site. Avoid relying on an undated copy from an unrelated document host.
The downloaded file opens as an image or cannot be searched
It may be a scanned PDF. Use the page headings and table of contents to locate the statements, and preserve the original file. If the issuer offers an accessible HTML or text version, use that official alternative rather than treating optical-character-recognition output as authoritative.

Keep a reliable record of what you downloaded
For research, accounting work or audit preparation, maintain a simple record with the issuer’s legal name, ticker or listing, fiscal year, six-month period-end date, document type, individual or consolidated scope, publication date, file format and the official page where you found it. Store the original PDF or spreadsheet unchanged and note any later replacement or amended version.
When citing a figure, include the statement page, table name, currency and unit. A number shown in millions in a consolidated statement should not be copied into a comparison without preserving those qualifiers. Keep the results announcement or presentation as supplementary context, but identify it separately from the formal interim report.
