To find an official Super Mario game for Nintendo Switch, start with Nintendo’s Mario games catalog, open the individual game page, and check its system and edition before choosing a physical or digital purchase. Nintendo lists both formats, but stock, prices, and available editions can change.
Where can you find official Mario games for Switch?
Use Nintendo’s Super Mario games and merch page to browse games featuring Mario and friends. The catalog includes filters for system and edition, including Nintendo Switch and physical or digital options. It can also include merchandise, so confirm that the item you open is a game and not an accessory or collectible.

Nintendo’s broader games catalog offers digital downloads and physical games. For any title, use its own product page to verify what Nintendo currently lists; a catalog result alone may not answer which platform or edition you are viewing.
How do you verify the system and edition?
- Open the game’s product page from Nintendo’s catalog.
- Check the listed platform and edition. Make sure the page is for Nintendo Switch if that is the system you own, and distinguish a Switch title from a Switch 2-specific edition or upgrade.
- Look for the purchase format and route shown on that page. Nintendo’s pages may offer a digital purchase, while a physical listing can direct you to retailers.
- Before paying, confirm the current price, availability, region, seller, and condition on the checkout or retailer listing.
For example, Nintendo’s physical Super Mario Odyssey page identifies a Nintendo Switch physical edition and provides a retailer-finding route. Its digital product page lists Nintendo Switch and says the game is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. Treat that compatibility statement as specific to this title; check each other game’s own page.

Nintendo’s Digital Game Purchases Through Nintendo.com FAQ says a Nintendo Account used for a digital purchase on Nintendo.com must have accessed eShop on a Switch-family system at least once. To download, you need a supported system, that account, an internet connection, and eShop access.
The FAQ lists the Americas service countries as Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and the United States. This is region-specific guidance; check Nintendo’s current support page for your location and any changes before purchasing.

How can you avoid confusing a game listing with an unofficial or wrong item?
- Use Nintendo’s catalog and product pages to verify the game title, system, and edition. Mario branding on a third-party listing does not by itself establish that the listing is official.
- For a marketplace purchase, inspect the seller, region, edition, physical condition, and whether the listing is for a game card, digital code, Switch 2 edition, or merchandise. Do not assume Nintendo endorses a seller unless the listing establishes that.
- Nintendo’s guidance on the Official Nintendo Licensed Product Seal applies to accessories and peripherals: look for the seal when buying licensed accessories. Nintendo warns that unlicensed products may not work or may have compatibility problems. The seal is not a complete authentication test for a used game card.
- Nintendo says authentic games can be purchased for download through Nintendo eShop on Nintendo devices and warns against unauthorized products that circumvent security measures.
