A Samsung phone cannot track an AirTag you own through Apple’s Find My network. It can scan for nearby unknown AirTags that have been separated from their owners, alert you if one appears to be moving with you, and read identifying details from an AirTag you have physically found.
What “finding an AirTag” means on a Samsung phone

Android 6 and later supports automatic alerts for unknown AirTags and a manual scan for nearby trackers that are away from their owners.
How to scan for an unknown AirTag
- On your Samsung phone, open Settings.
- Go to Safety & emergency > Unknown tracker alerts > Scan now.
- Wait about 10 seconds for the scan to finish. It checks for compatible trackers currently nearby and separated from their owners.
Samsung menu names and locations can vary with the phone model and One UI version. If you do not see the listed path, search Settings for Unknown tracker alerts. On Android 11 and later, a manual scan does not require Location to be enabled. Automatic alerts do require Location enabled.
What to do if an alert appears
- Tap the notification to review the map, which shows places where the tracker was detected traveling with your phone.
- Use Play sound and listen for the tracker. Playing the sound does not notify its owner.
- Check your belongings and the route shown on the map. A borrowed bag or keys, or traveling with someone who carries a tracker, can explain an alert.
- If you find the AirTag, record its identifying information if appropriate and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to disable it.
If Play sound does not work, the tracker may be outside Bluetooth range, near its owner, recently separated from its owner, or using a changed device identifier. An alert or scan result does not by itself establish that someone is tracking you deliberately.

How to identify an AirTag you have found
Hold the back of an NFC-capable phone near the AirTag’s white side and wait for a notification. Open it to view the information available. Apple says this may include the AirTag’s serial number and the last four digits of the phone number associated with its owner. If the owner marked the AirTag as lost, the page may include details for contacting them. Save a screenshot or other record if it could be useful.
How to disable a concerning AirTag
Use the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific tracker you found. Disabling the tag stops its owner from receiving location updates, but it also ends alerts for that tracker.

Turning off Bluetooth, Location, or airplane mode on your Samsung phone does not disable the AirTag or stop it from sharing its location. Those phone settings are not a substitute for disabling the tracker itself.
If you feel unsafe
Move to a safe public place and contact law enforcement or someone you trust. Google and Apple both recommend seeking help when an unwanted-tracker alert raises a safety concern. Keep relevant alert details and identifying information available if it is safe to do so.
