If you want to explore a Star Trek starship in VR, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is the game built around working the bridge: players coordinate as Captain, Helm, Tactical, and Engineer, aboard the USS Aegis or Enterprise variants. For a very different experience, Star Trek: Infection is a VR-only, single-player survival horror game set on a damaged ship. Which fits depends on whether you want cooperative Starfleet operations or solo horror exploration.
What you do in Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a cooperative starship-bridge simulation. Ubisoft’s original description centers on the USS Aegis and its mission to explore the Trench. Players coordinate across four stations—Captain, Helm, Tactical, and Engineer—to choose objectives, steer, scan, manage systems, and engage threats. The Captain can play solo with NPC crewmates, while multiplayer crews can include up to four players. Ubisoft’s overview describes teamwork and communication as central to the design.
What each station contributes
- Captain: Sets objectives and coordinates decisions. In solo play, NPC crewmates fill the other roles.
- Helm: Steers and maneuvers the ship.
- Tactical: Handles scans and weapons during encounters.
- Engineer: Manages ship systems and responds to changing demands.
The appeal is less about walking around a ship and more about communicating under pressure while each player operates a different part of the bridge.
Which Enterprise ships appear in Bridge Crew?
The Aegis is the ship in the original story; the Enterprise bridges are separate additions. The original USS Enterprise NCC-1701 became playable in Ongoing Voyages, including for solo play or crews of up to four, while the Next Generation expansion added the Enterprise-D.

- Playable in both VR and non-VR, serve as an officer with hand tracking with full-body avatars and lip-sync.
- Operate as a crew to make strategic decisions and coordinate actions as Captain, Helm, Tactical or Engineer.
- Take command of the unique U.S.S. Aegis, the first ship of her kind.
- Play on the original bridge of the legendary U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.
- Join a shared galactic adventure where communication, trust, and close coordination are the keys to victory.
| Ship | How it fits | Availability in Bridge Crew |
|---|---|---|
| USS Aegis | The ship used in the original game’s Trench exploration premise. | Original campaign setting. |
| USS Enterprise NCC-1701 | The original Enterprise bridge. | Added to Ongoing Voyages; Ubisoft described solo and up-to-four-player play. Ubisoft announcement. |
| USS Enterprise-D | The Next Generation-era bridge. | Included in the Next Generation expansion, alongside Romulans and Borg. Ubisoft described solo and cross-platform multiplayer. Ubisoft expansion announcement. |
Ongoing Voyages offers procedurally generated missions, so it is the mode to look at for repeatable assignments beyond the story. The Enterprise bridges are not interchangeable with the Aegis campaign setting.
Does Bridge Crew require a VR headset?
Not necessarily. Ubisoft originally announced Bridge Crew for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift, then added non-VR support on PC and PS4 in a free update in December 2017. The announcement establishes those historical platform options, not compatibility with every current headset, store edition, or device. See the non-VR update details and check the live store listing for the version you plan to use.
For PlayStation, the PlayStation Store listing is the relevant place to verify its current VR and network-play information. A headset is only useful if the particular game edition and connection method support it; Quest, PC VR, PSVR, and PSVR2 are not automatically interchangeable.

Star Trek: Infection is a separate kind of Trek VR game, not another bridge-crew simulator. The Steam listing gives its release date as March 31, 2026, identifies Played with Fire as developer and publisher, and describes a VR-only, single-player survival horror game aboard the USS Lumen, a ruined Defiant-class ship. Its focus is solo exploration and horror rather than dividing bridge duties among a crew. The Steam listing provides the current store details, including supported controller information; check it before purchasing for exact headset requirements and availability.
