To turn Bing search suggestions on or off, open Bing Settings, choose Search, then select or clear See search suggestions as you type. Select the checkbox to show suggestions while typing; clear it to hide them.
Change the Bing search-suggestions setting

Open Bing and go to its Settings page.

Choose Search.

Find See search suggestions as you type.

Select the checkbox to turn suggestions on, or clear it to turn them off.

Microsoft’s instructions describe this service-level setting and do not give separate procedures for desktop, mobile, browser, or account types. Some Bing features may not be available in every country or region.

What happens after you turn suggestions off?
Microsoft says suggestions stay off until you clear your cookies or turn them back on. If suggestions begin appearing again after you disabled them, check whether cookies were cleared, then revisit the same setting.

Search suggestions are not search history
Search suggestions appear as you type. Bing generates them algorithmically using the popularity of related searches and relevance signals such as search history, trends, location, and language, according to Microsoft’s explanation of how Bing delivers results, last updated March 2025.
Bing search history has its own setting. Turning its history control off stops new searches from being added, but does not delete searches already recorded. To manage that separately, use Microsoft’s Bing search-history instructions.
