To enable FSR in a supported game, first confirm that both the game and your laptop’s exact GPU are supported. For games that use AMD Software enablement, close the game, open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition > Gaming > Graphics, and turn on AMD FSR Upscaling. Then launch the game and enable FSR in its graphics or video settings if needed. Games with native FSR integration use their own in-game control instead.
Check whether your laptop and game support FSR
AMD now calls the feature AMD FSR Upscaling. Some games integrate ML-based FSR Upscaling directly; other games with FSR 3.1 or higher can use an enablement option in AMD Software. A game menu may still label the feature “FSR 4.”
Do not assume that an AMD laptop supports the feature just because it has AMD graphics. AMD’s current page lists Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 graphics cards for ML-based FSR Upscaling, but that general list does not confirm compatibility for every laptop GPU, OEM configuration, or driver. Check your exact GPU and the game against AMD’s supported-games list before changing settings.

Choose the right enablement route

The driver option is not a universal switch for every game. AMD describes FidelityFX Super Resolution as requiring game integration. Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) is a separate driver-based alternative for compatible games; it is not the way to enable FSR in a supported game. See AMD’s RSR overview for that distinct feature.
Enable FSR through AMD Software
- Install a supported game and close it. The game should not be running while you change the AMD Software setting.
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. Select Gaming, then open the Graphics subtab.
- Turn on AMD FSR Upscaling. The in-game menu may still refer to the feature as FSR 4. Where supported, Frame Generation is a separate optional toggle; enabling it is not required to turn on upscaling.
- Launch the game and check its graphics or video options. If FSR 3.1 is not already enabled, switch it on there. Choose an upscaling quality preset in the game if one is offered.
If AMD identifies the game as using native ML-based FSR integration, use its in-game control rather than relying on the driver-enable route. AMD’s FSR instructions distinguish these two paths.

Check the GPU and game first
Verify the laptop’s exact graphics hardware, the current game version, and the game’s listing on AMD’s supported-games page. A generic “AMD laptop” description cannot establish compatibility, and the AMD Software toggle only applies to supported integrations.

Use the laptop maker’s driver if Adrenalin causes problems
AMD notes that laptop and all-in-one systems may need OEM-provided drivers customized and validated for system-specific features. If AMD Software downloaded from AMD.com causes compatibility problems, AMD recommends installing the driver from the laptop manufacturer. After installing the appropriate driver, check the game and AMD Software settings again.
Check current release notes for a game-specific issue
Driver notes can identify problems that affect a particular title rather than FSR generally. For example, AMD’s Adrenalin 26.6.1 release notes, last updated June 2, 2026, listed an issue in which FSR Upscaling and FSR Frame Generation might appear inactive while playing Battlefield 6 on RX 9000 graphics products. This was a dated report for that game and hardware family; later driver releases may change its status.
Confirm which control applies
- If the title uses native FSR integration, look in the game’s graphics or video menu.
- If it requires AMD Software enablement, set the toggle in Gaming > Graphics with the game closed, then check the game’s own options after relaunching.
- If the setting is still unavailable, recheck GPU and game support, use the laptop maker’s recommended driver when needed, and consult the current release notes for title-specific issues.
AMD’s Adrenalin 25.6.3 release notes provide dated FSR 4 release and laptop context; current support and game availability can change with software updates.
