You can download the full Photoshop desktop app on Windows 11 through Adobe’s seven-day free trial, but there is no permanently free desktop version. Adobe generally asks for payment information, and the trial converts to a paid Creative Cloud membership after seven days unless you cancel it.

Start from Adobe’s official Photoshop free-trial page. Avoid installers advertised as “cracked,” “portable,” or “full version free.” They can contain malware, modified executables, or files that cause Adobe activation failures.
Before you install Photoshop on Windows 11
Check these points first:
- Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari for the Adobe account and checkout pages.
- Make sure you can sign in to an Adobe account or create one.
- Have a payment method available if Adobe requests one during trial setup.
- Use a Windows account with permission to install applications.
- Use a reliable internet connection. Creative Cloud downloads the application and manages its licensing.
Adobe’s Windows 11 compatibility information lists Creative Cloud apps from 2023 onward as compatible with Windows 11. Most current Creative Cloud 2026 desktop apps support Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 23H2.
How to download Photoshop for free on Windows 11
- Open Adobe’s Photoshop page. In a browser, go to adobe.com/products/photoshop/free-trial-download.html.
- Select Free Trial or Start free trial. Adobe may first ask you to choose the type of account: For Individuals, For Students and Teachers, or For Teams and Businesses.
- Choose a plan and billing option. Read the billing description carefully. A plan described as “annual plan, billed monthly” is not the same as a month-to-month plan.
- Sign in or create an Adobe ID. Use the email address associated with the Adobe account you intend to keep using.
- Enter payment information. Adobe’s current trial workflow asks for payment details before you select Agree and subscribe. The trial begins when you select Start free trial after entering those details.
- Select Agree and subscribe. Confirm that the price, trial period, and renewal terms are what you expect.
- Select Get Started. Adobe installs the Creative Cloud desktop app automatically. Creative Cloud then downloads and installs Photoshop, and Photoshop should open when installation finishes.
If Adobe presents a shorter sequence, the visible buttons may be Free Trial, sign-in or account creation, and Download the trial. These steps lead to the same Creative Cloud installation process.

If Creative Cloud is already installed on your Windows 11 PC, you do not need to download a separate Photoshop installer:
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop app from the Start menu or notification area.
- Select Apps.
- Find Photoshop.
- Select Install.
For a first-time Creative Cloud installation, Adobe also provides this route: open Adobe Home, select Apps, find Photoshop, and select Download. The Creative Cloud desktop app is then installed and manages Photoshop.

How to stop the trial becoming a paid subscription
Set a reminder before the seven days expire. If payment details were collected during signup, the trial starts when you select Start free trial at checkout. If Adobe did not request payment details, Adobe says the trial begins when you launch Photoshop for the first time.
To cancel a plan purchased directly from Adobe:
- Go to Adobe Account and sign in.
- Open Plans and payment.
- Select Manage plan.
- Select Cancel your plan.
- Select Continue to cancel.
- Choose a cancellation reason and select Continue.
- Select Confirm cancellation.
Canceling during the seven-day trial prevents the normal conversion to a paid plan. Adobe also describes a 14-day full-refund window after purchase for the applicable plan, subject to its refund terms. If Adobe is processing a payment or there is a payment problem and you cannot cancel, Adobe says to wait 24 hours and try again. If your plan was purchased through Apple, Google, or Microsoft, cancel it through that provider instead of Adobe’s account page.

What to do if Photoshop will not install
Creative Cloud is stuck or appears frozen
A first installation can take longer than expected. Poor Wi-Fi, antivirus software, a software firewall, a corporate proxy, or damaged or missing Creative Cloud files can interrupt the process.
- Wait several minutes if the download is still making progress.
- Temporarily test another network, such as a phone hotspot, if your current connection is restricted.
- Check whether antivirus or firewall software is blocking Creative Cloud.
- Restart Windows and try the installation again.
If Creative Cloud itself is damaged, Adobe documents a repair option. Open or run:

Choose Repair. Repairing signs you out, so relaunch Creative Cloud and sign in again. If repair does not work, run the uninstaller again and choose Uninstall. Adobe also provides the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool for more serious corruption problems.
“Unable to reach Adobe servers” or “Retry installation” appears
These messages can result from network connectivity problems, a proxy or software firewall, incorrectly configured Windows hosts-file entries, outdated operating-system components, a damaged Windows user profile, or corrupt installer files. Adobe recommends checking network settings and, if the problem continues, trying a new local administrator account or using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to address corrupt files.
To inspect the Windows WinHTTP proxy configuration:
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run this command: netsh winhttp show proxy.
If the result shows an unexpected proxy, reset the detected WinHTTP proxy settings by running netsh winhttp reset proxy. Restart Windows afterward. On a company or school network, do not change proxy settings without permission. Adobe lists these servers and port 80 for corporate firewall configuration:

The trial says it has expired too early
Adobe lists several possible causes, including:
- An incorrect Windows system clock.
- Using or attempting the trial on another computer.
- An automated virus scan interfering with trial files.
- Insufficient user rights.
- A failed or damaged installation.
- A modified Photoshop executable or an attached debugger.
Check Settings → Time & language → Date & time and enable automatic time settings. Then restart Creative Cloud, confirm that you are using the correct Adobe ID, and reinstall the official application if the installation is damaged.
Creative Cloud keeps asking you to sign in
Windows may be losing Adobe’s stored licensing credentials.
- Open Windows Search and enter Credential Manager.
- Select Windows Credentials.
- Inspect Generic Credentials for entries named Adobe App Info and Adobe User Info.
- Check whether antivirus software is deleting or quarantining Adobe credentials.
- Press the Start key, type Services, and press Enter.
- Find Credential Manager and select Restart.
A stopped Windows Management Instrumentation service can also cause recurring credential invalidation. If the problem continues, try the installation from a new local administrator account, as Adobe identifies a damaged user profile as another possible cause.

Can you use Photoshop without paying after seven days?
Not the full Windows desktop application through Adobe’s official trial. After seven days, Photoshop requires a paid Creative Cloud plan unless you cancel. Adobe’s web and mobile products, Photoshop Elements, and other image editors are separate products or services; they are not a permanently free Windows desktop copy of Photoshop.

If you only need basic cropping, resizing, retouching, or layered image work, compare the capabilities and licensing of a free alternative before starting the trial. If you need Photoshop-specific features, the official Adobe trial is the safe way to test the application.
