You can listen to Nintendo Music offline by downloading music in advance in the Nintendo Music app on a compatible phone or tablet. The computer web version streams music only; it does not support downloads or offline playback. You need a Nintendo Account and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, but you do not need a Switch console.
Download music in the Nintendo Music app
Nintendo confirms that music downloaded in the app can be played offline. Connect your device to the internet before you lose service, open Nintendo Music, and download the music you want available offline. Nintendo’s support guidance does not specify the current screen-by-screen steps or button label, so follow the download controls shown in your version of the app rather than relying on a presumed menu path. Availability of a particular track, album, or playlist may vary.
These are in-app downloads for offline listening, not audio files that Nintendo documents as exportable to another music player. Nintendo’s support guidance describes offline playback in the app.

| Platform | Download tracks? | Offline playback? |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Music app on a compatible phone or tablet | Yes, music can be downloaded in advance in the app. | Yes, for downloaded music; tracks may expire after an extended period offline. |
| Nintendo Music in a computer web browser | No; Nintendo says tracks cannot be downloaded using the web version. | No; the web version streams only. |
That distinction matters if you are preparing for a flight, commute, or other time without connectivity: use the app to prepare music before you go. A computer browser cannot prepare offline tracks.

Keep downloads available during an extended offline period
Nintendo says downloaded tracks expire if you have been offline for an extended period, but does not specify an expiration interval. To avoid an interruption, reconnect and open the app periodically. If a downloaded track stops working offline, Nintendo’s support article updated September 2, 2026, gives a recovery procedure for particular error codes:

- Try playing the downloaded track offline again.
Nintendo associates error 9009-2201 with Android and 9010-2101 with iOS. It also notes that some Android users on app version 1.7 may be unable to play downloaded tracks offline even if they connect regularly. For an affected track, Nintendo recommends playing it online first, then trying it offline again.
