Disney+ is available as an app on compatible iPhone and iPad, Android, Fire TV, Xbox, PlayStation and Samsung Tizen devices. A Chromebook uses the latest Chrome browser on ChromeOS rather than a conventional Disney+ desktop app. The app download is separate from downloading films and shows for offline viewing.
Compatibility and content availability can vary by country or territory. The requirements below reflect Disney’s published guidance checked on August 18, 2026.

Install Disney+ on each supported device
iPhone and iPad
Disney requires iOS or iPadOS 16.5 or later on Apple mobile devices. Confirm the version in Settings > General > Software Update. Compatibility details are listed by Disney here.

- Open the App Store.
- Search for Disney+.
- Check that the publisher is Disney.
- Tap Get or the cloud-download button and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
- Open Disney+ and sign in.
If the listing is missing, check the iOS version, App Store country, available storage and parental restrictions.
Android phones and tablets
Disney supports Android 6.0 Marshmallow and later. Very old, modified or uncertified devices can still fail installation or playback despite showing a qualifying version. See Disney’s Android requirements.
- Open Google Play Store.
- Search for Disney+ and select the official Disney listing.
- Tap Install.
- Open the app and sign in.
Update Android and Google Play services before retrying an installation that fails.

Amazon Fire TV Stick
Disney’s current requirement is Fire OS 6.0 or later, so not every older Fire TV Stick is supported. Confirm the software under Settings > My Fire TV > About. The platform details are in Disney’s Fire TV guidance.

- From the Fire TV home screen, select Search.
- Enter Disney+.
- Select the official app.
- Choose Download or Get.
- Open Disney+ and sign in or activate it with the TV code.
To reinstall a faulty copy, go to Settings > Applications > Disney+ > Uninstall, restart the Fire TV device, then search for Disney+ and download it again. Disney documents this process at its reinstall page.
Xbox One
Disney lists Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as supported. Install from the console’s Microsoft Store using Disney’s Xbox instructions.
- Open Microsoft Store on Xbox.
- Search for Disney+.
- Select the official app and choose Get or Install.
- Launch Disney+ and sign in.
If playback or startup remains unstable, open My Games & Apps > Apps, highlight Disney+, press the controller’s Menu button, choose Manage App and clear saved data if appropriate. Clearing data can require signing in again.

PlayStation 4
Disney supports PS4 and PS5. On PS4, use the PlayStation Store as described in Disney’s PlayStation guidance.

- Open PlayStation Store.
- Search for Disney+.
- Select the official app and choose Download.
- Open it and sign in.
To reinstall, highlight Disney+ on the PS4 home screen, press Triangle, select Delete, restart the console and download the app again. The reinstall procedure is at Disney Help.
Samsung Smart TV
Most Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 onward that run Tizen support Disney+. Models using Orsay OS do not, and Disney+ is not supported through the Samsung TV web browser. Verify the model and operating system before troubleshooting; Disney’s model guidance is here.
- Press Home on the Samsung remote.
- Open Apps and search for Disney+.
- Select the app and choose Install or Add to Home.
- Open Disney+ and sign in.
Some supported televisions include the app preinstalled. If your TV is too old, use a supported streaming device, console, HDMI connection from a compatible computer or AirPlay from a supported Apple device.
Chromebook
Disney’s Chromebook route is browser playback, not a normal desktop-app download. Use the latest Chrome version on ChromeOS, as specified in its computer and browser requirements.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Install any pending ChromeOS updates.
- Open the latest Google Chrome.
- Go to the official Disney+ website.
- Select Log In and enter your account details.
- Stream in the browser.
Chromebooks do not receive Disney+ offline downloads.
Activate Disney+ on a TV, Fire TV or console
Typing a password with a remote is optional. On the connected device:
- Open Disney+ and choose Log In.
- Scan the displayed QR code, or open DisneyPlus.com/begin on a phone or computer.
- Enter the eight-digit code shown on the TV.
- Complete the sign-in prompts for the intended Disney+ account.
- Wait for the device to refresh, then select Start Streaming.
If activation stalls, use a private browser window, check the code character by character, restart the app and generate a new code. Never post an activation code publicly. Disney’s sign-in help is at this page.

Installing Disney+ lets a device stream over the internet. Offline downloads are a separate feature. Disney supports downloads on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Amazon Fire tablets, Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest when the account has an eligible Premium plan or qualifying Premium bundle.

Downloads are not available on Fire TV Stick, Xbox One, PS4, Samsung Smart TV, Chromebook, computers or Windows 10 and 11 tablets. Downloaded content remains available only while the subscription is active, the device connects to the internet at least once every 30 days and the account stays within the limit of 10 supported mobile devices. Subscription, pricing and connection requirements
The app can be obtained from the official store, but streaming requires a Disney+ subscription. Disney’s U.S. pricing page observed April 30, 2026 listed $11.99 per month for Disney+ with ads, $18.99 per month for Premium without ads and $189.99 per year for Premium. These are dated U.S. figures; prices, bundles and billing terms can change, and third-party platform billing may differ. Disney’s page also states that there is no current free trial. Check the official pricing page before subscribing.
Disney recommends approximately 5 Mbps for HD, 8 Mbps for live content and 25 Mbps for 4K UHD. Actual video and audio quality depend on the plan, device, connection and title. See Disney’s speed recommendations.

The app does not appear in the store
- Identify the exact device model; a platform name alone does not establish compatibility.
- Check the operating-system requirement for that model.
- Confirm Disney+ is offered in your country or territory and that the store account uses the intended region.
- Install system updates, connect to the internet and check free storage.
- Review parental controls or store restrictions that may block app installation.
The app installs but will not open
- Restart the device completely.
- Install available Disney+ and operating-system updates.
- Clear cache or app data where the platform provides that option.
- Uninstall and reinstall the official store listing.
- Do not use unofficial APKs or sideloaded packages.

Streaming buffers or quality drops
- Test the connection against Disney’s 5 Mbps HD, 8 Mbps live and 25 Mbps 4K recommendations.
- Restart the router and the streaming device.
- Reduce network congestion from other downloads or streams.
- Check that the title and plan support the desired quality.
The device is unsupported
Do not install an unofficial package. Use a supported Fire TV device, Xbox, PlayStation or other listed streamer; play through ChromeOS or a supported computer and HDMI; or use AirPlay from a compatible Apple device. Disney’s complete options are listed in its device guide.
