Google Chrome can still be downloaded and installed on a supported Windows 10 PC through Google’s official download page. The standard installation does not require Command Prompt, PowerShell, or an msiexec command: download the installer, open it, approve Windows’ prompts, and let Chrome complete the setup.

One distinction matters before you begin: Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 version 22H2 on October 14, 2025, but Google’s current Chrome support table says Windows 10 deprecation is not yet scheduled. Those are separate support dates.

Check whether your Windows 10 PC is supported

Google’s current consumer requirements list Windows 10 and later on PCs with an Intel processor, including an Intel Pentium 4 or later that supports SSE3. Google lists ARM-processor support beginning with Windows 11, so Windows 10 on ARM is not listed as supported.

To check your Windows edition and system type, open Start > Settings > System > About. Review Windows specifications and Device specifications. A typical compatible PC will show Windows 10 and an Intel processor.

If you are installing Chrome on a company-managed computer or Windows Server, use Google’s Chrome Enterprise download and requirements pages instead. The enterprise download offers different channels, file types, and architectures. It is not a separate browser product: Chrome Enterprise provides management tools and deployment controls for the same Chrome browser.

Download Chrome from Google

  1. Open an existing browser, such as Microsoft Edge.
  2. Go to Google’s official Chrome download page.
  3. Select the download button for Chrome.
  4. Save the installation file when your browser asks where to put it. It will normally be saved in the Downloads folder.

Use Google’s site rather than a third-party download portal. A third-party installer may be repackaged, outdated, or bundled with unwanted software.

Install Google Chrome on Windows 10

  1. Open File Explorer > Downloads, or open the downloaded file from your browser’s download panel.
  2. Double-click the Chrome installation file.
  3. If Windows asks, “Do you want to run this file?”, select Run.
  4. If Windows asks, “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, select Yes.
  5. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions. The installer downloads and installs Chrome.

On Windows 10 and later, Google says a Chrome window opens automatically when the installation finishes.

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Select the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
  3. Choose Bookmarks and lists > Import bookmarks and settings.
  4. Select the browser and data categories you want to import, then follow the prompts.

Make Chrome your default browser

Making Chrome the default browser is optional. You can choose the “make Chrome your default browser” option or link in Chrome’s setup flow after installation.

You can also change it later in Windows 10:

  1. Open Start > Settings.
  2. Select Apps > Default apps.
  3. Under Web browser, select the browser currently listed.
  4. Choose Google Chrome.

This changes which browser Windows uses for web links. It does not uninstall Microsoft Edge.

Delete the installer after Chrome is installed

Once Chrome opens successfully, return to File Explorer > Downloads. You can delete the Chrome installation file; Google says it is no longer needed after installation. Deleting that file does not remove the installed Chrome browser.

The PC uses Windows 10 on ARM Google’s listed consumer requirements begin ARM support at Windows 11. Check the device architecture and Google’s current requirements before trying another installer.

Google’s standard consumer instructions do not require a Command Prompt or PowerShell command, and they do not provide a separate command-line recovery process for this normal installation route.

Windows 10 support versus Chrome support

Do not confuse Microsoft’s Windows 10 end-of-support date with Google’s Chrome support schedule. Microsoft lists Windows 10 Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions as reaching end of support on October 14, 2025. Google’s current enterprise support table says Chrome support for Windows 10 is not yet scheduled for deprecation.

Also, Chrome 109 is not the last Chrome version for Windows 10. Google identifies Chrome 109, released January 10, 2023, as the last version supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1. That cutoff does not apply to Windows 10.

Consumer installer or enterprise download?

Use the ordinary Chrome download page for a personal Windows 10 computer.
