To use a Procreate brush, first download or transfer its brush file to your iPad, then import it through Procreate’s Brushes panel. Procreate lists .brush, .brushset, and .brushlibrary files as importable formats, and says it can also import Photoshop .abr brushes. The official Help Center documents how to import brushes, rather than a single official store for downloading them.
Get a brush file onto your iPad
Download a brush file from a source you trust, or transfer one from a Mac or PC to your iPad. Procreate’s Help Center mentions AirDrop as one transfer option, but does not document every download site or transfer method.
Before importing, check that the file has a supported extension: .brush, .brushset, .brushlibrary, or Photoshop’s .abr. The Help Center identifies these formats, but does not guarantee that every file advertised online as a Procreate brush is valid, safe, or packaged correctly.

Import a brush through Procreate
- Open a canvas in Procreate.
- Tap Paint, Smudge, or Erase to open the Brushes panel.
- Tap the add button at the top right of the Brushes panel.
- Choose Import from Files.
- Find and tap the brush file on your iPad.
These are the steps documented by Procreate’s Help Center. Interface labels can differ between versions; Procreate’s Handbook page describes Procreate 5.4 specifically.

Import from Files or another app
If the brush file is already visible in Files or another compatible app, you can tap it to open it in Procreate or drag and drop it into Procreate. Procreate’s 5.4 Handbook describes tapping a file in Files as an import route; the Help Center also documents drag and drop. Use Import from Files when you want to browse for a known saved file, or tap or drag the file when it is already accessible.
Find the imported brush
- Single brush: Procreate places it in a set called Imported.
- Brush set: It appears near the top of the Brush Library.
- Brush library: It appears alongside the other libraries in the Libraries view.
These locations are described in Procreate’s Help Center and 5.4 Handbook.

If the brush will not import
- Confirm the file has finished downloading or transferring to the iPad.
- Check that its extension is one of the supported formats listed above.
- Try importing it with Import from Files and select the file directly.
These checks follow Procreate’s documented import workflow; they are not a complete official troubleshooting procedure. The documentation does not establish that brushes can be previewed or tested before import.
