To remove the “Do more with AI Mode” and “Create images” chips from Chrome’s New Tab Page, open chrome://flags/#ntp-next-features, set NTP Next Features to Disabled, then relaunch Chrome. This experimental flag is build-dependent, so the label or result may differ in your installed version.
Disable the chips using NTP Next Features
- In Chrome’s address bar, enter
chrome://flags/#ntp-next-featuresand press Enter. - Find NTP Next Features. Chromium describes it as enabling features, including AI action chips, in NTP Next: Chromium source.
- Open the setting beside the flag and choose Disabled.
- Select Relaunch when Chrome prompts you. Check the New Tab Page after the browser restarts.
The removal steps and the chip labels are reported by AskVG’s guide, updated September 26, 2026. Chrome flags are experimental controls; the flag’s presence and effect are not guaranteed to be identical across builds.
Choose between removing all chips and dismissing suggestions

AskVG reports the per-chip option for builds that show Enabled – Allow Disable; it may not appear in your version.

Try the related flags as troubleshooting options. In chrome://flags, search for each name, set it to Disabled if it is present, and relaunch Chrome:
- NTP Realbox Next enables the Realbox “Next” experience, according to the Chromium flag descriptions.
- NTP Composebox controls showing the Composebox on the New Tab Page search box after its entry point is clicked, according to the same Chromium source.
AskVG recommends trying these flags if disabling NTP Next Features does not remove the chips; a reader comment on its guide also reports that the main flag alone did not work. These related settings are fallbacks, not guaranteed fixes.
Why the option may look different
Chrome flag names and choices can change between builds. The available reporting lists Mac, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, and Android, but does not independently confirm current availability on every platform or release. If NTP Next Features or a suggested choice is missing, your installed build may not expose that control.
