To disable a Safari extension across Safari on your iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions, tap the extension, then turn off Allow Extension. To turn it off on just one website, use Safari’s Page Menu > Manage Extensions controls instead.
Turn off an extension throughout Safari
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Apps, then Safari.
- Tap Extensions.
- Tap the extension you want to disable.
- Turn off Allow Extension.
This changes the extension’s setting in Safari. Apple documents the path in its iPhone guide to Safari extensions. If the menu labels on your iPhone differ, they may depend on your iOS version; Apple’s guide documents the path above but does not provide a version-by-version history.

Turn off an extension for one website
- Open the website in Safari.
- Tap the Page Menu button beside the search field.
- Tap Manage Extensions.
- Turn off the extension for that site.
This site-specific control lets you prevent the extension from operating on the current website without changing its general Safari setting. Apple describes this option in its guide to extensions on iPhone.
Disable an extension or remove it?
Turning off Allow Extension disables the extension without deleting its app. If you want to remove it instead, find its icon on the Home Screen, touch and hold it, tap Delete app, and follow the onscreen instructions. Apple documents these as separate actions in its extension guide.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Check Safari profiles and Private Browsing
Profiles
If you use Safari profiles and an extension behaves differently between them, check the profile you are using. Apple says to turn on an extension for each profile where you want to use it.
Private Browsing
Extensions that have access to browsing data are automatically turned off in Private Browsing, according to Apple’s guide to private browsing on iPhone. That automatic behavior is separate from turning off the extension in Safari’s general settings.
