To use Norton VPN, open the app that came with your Norton product, start the connection, and wait for the app to confirm it is connected. The steps differ between the standalone Norton VPN app and Norton 360: on a computer, Norton 360 places the feature under Privacy; on a phone or tablet, it is under Menu.
Open the correct Norton app and connect
Norton VPN and Norton 360 have different navigation. Follow the path for the app you use, then confirm its status says the VPN is connected before relying on the connection. Norton’s connection guide also lists instructions for smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV.

Choose a VPN location
Norton selects an optimal regional data center by default, so you can usually connect without choosing a location. To select one yourself, open the location selector and choose a country or city if those options are available in your app. Norton’s guide describes searching locations, but the controls may differ across app versions, operating systems, and plans. See Norton’s location and IP refresh instructions.
Know what Kill Switch does during a location change
Changing VPN locations may briefly interrupt the secure connection. If Kill Switch is enabled, internet access is blocked until the VPN reconnects; this prevents traffic from continuing over an unprotected connection during that interruption, according to Norton Support’s Kill Switch guidance.

On Windows or Mac, Norton may prompt you to enable Kill Switch during a location change. The prompt also offers the option to continue without enabling it. If you do enable it, expect internet access to remain blocked until the VPN returns.
Fix connection or app problems
If Norton VPN will not connect or a site will not load
Try connecting to a different region. If a site fails, streaming does not load, or CAPTCHAs keep appearing, Norton documents a manual IP refresh as another troubleshooting option. The VPN must be connected and not paused to refresh; the new IP stays in the same location. A Kill Switch prompt may appear during the refresh. These steps may help diagnose access problems, but do not guarantee that a particular website or streaming service will work.

If a printer, scanner, email, or another app stops working
First disconnect the VPN briefly and check whether the affected device or app works again. If it does, you can exclude selected app traffic from the VPN with Split Tunneling on Windows, macOS, or Android, according to Norton’s Split Tunneling overview. Norton’s setup instructions require the VPN to be off while you change exclusions; see the platform-specific steps for Windows and Mac and Android. The cited guidance does not establish Split Tunneling availability on iOS.

Check the current app for feature availability
Navigation and available features can change with app releases, operating systems, and product plans. Norton’s support guidance describes the paths and options above, but does not establish a complete current plan-by-plan feature matrix. If a setting is missing, check the current app and account rather than assuming it is included.
