To connect Fitbit data with Samsung Health on Android, use Health Connect as the bridge: set up sharing in the Google Health app, then grant the two apps permission to read or write the data types you want to share. This is not a documented direct Fitbit-to-Samsung account connection, and only supported, permission-enabled data is eligible to appear in both apps.
Google says the Fitbit app becomes the Google Health app beginning May 19, 2026. The steps below use the current Google Health name; if your app still shows Fitbit labels, menu wording may differ. Fitbit-account users must move their account to a Google Account to use the new app, according to Google’s app-transition guidance.
Before you start
- You need an Android phone running Android 9 or later and an adult Google Account to use Health Connect with Google Health, according to Google Health Help.
- Health Connect is Android-only. On Android 14 or later, find it under Settings → Security and privacy → Privacy Controls → Health Connect. On Android 13 or earlier, install Health Connect from Google Play, then open it through Settings → Apps → All apps. Menu labels can vary by device and OS version; see Android Help.
- Update Samsung Health. Samsung documents Health Connect synchronization for Samsung Health version 6.22.5 and later; that minimum dates to October 2022, so updating is the practical first step if the integration is missing. See Samsung’s Health Connect FAQ.
How to connect Google Health and Samsung Health
- Start in Google Health: Open Connections → Partner apps → Sync your favorite health apps → Set up.
- Choose what to share: Review the prompts, select data types, and choose whether to allow all, selected items, or no access for each requested category. Google Health may separately ask to access historical data and sync in the background.
- Review Android permissions: Open Health Connect’s app permissions and allow the desired read and write access for Google Health and Samsung Health. Grant only the categories you want shared; access is controlled by data type.
- Enable Samsung Health access: In Samsung Health, open Settings → Health Connect → App permissions and turn on the relevant permissions. Samsung advises launching Samsung Health after granting permissions in Android settings.
- Run a manual sync if needed: In Samsung Health, use Settings → Sync with Samsung account → Sync now if its data appears stale. To check Google Health’s connection to Health Connect, open Connections → Partner apps → Manage Health Connect and use the documented Sync control.
- Check the connection status: In Google Health, a status such as “Synced just now,” a recent time, or “Syncing” indicates the displayed connection state. It does not guarantee that every metric is supported or will appear in Samsung Health.
These paths follow the current Google Health Health Connect instructions and Samsung’s guidance; app updates may change button names.

Samsung names activity data such as steps and exercise, heart rate, and sleep among the categories that can synchronize through Health Connect. Google Health lets you select data types, but Android notes that connected apps do not necessarily support every type. As a result, expect only metrics that both apps support and that you have permitted to be shared—not a guaranteed, complete copy of Fitbit data.

The available documentation does not establish that every Fitbit metric, detailed workout, or historical record will transfer. It also does not establish that the apps combine or deduplicate every step, exercise, or sleep record. If totals differ, the apps’ supported data, devices, or calculation methods may affect what each dashboard displays; the documented setup alone cannot identify the cause of an individual mismatch. Fix missing or outdated data
No data appears in either app
- Confirm both Google Health and Samsung Health are connected through Health Connect.
- Review the permissions for the specific data type in Health Connect. For data to flow, the app producing it must be allowed to write that type, and the app receiving it must be allowed to read it. Google outlines this check in its Health Connect troubleshooting guidance.
Samsung Health is not updating
- Update Samsung Health and confirm its Health Connect permissions are enabled both in Android settings and in Samsung Health’s Settings → Health Connect → App permissions.
- Open Samsung Health after changing Android permissions. If needed, trigger Settings → Sync with Samsung account → Sync now.
Google Health shows an old sync time
Open Connections → Partner apps → Manage Health Connect and use Sync. If the status remains stale, update Google Health and check the relevant data-type permissions.

Your Fitbit wearable is not syncing to Google Health
This is a separate step from sharing data with Samsung Health. Check that Google Health has the phone permissions it needs and is allowed background data and background battery use. Google notes that Android background limits can interfere with automatic Fitbit-device syncing; see Google’s Android syncing instructions.
A newly added data type is unavailable
Review Health Connect permissions again. Google says a new metric may require you to grant a new permission before it can be shared.

Disconnect access and understand where data is stored
Disconnecting a partner app in Google Health may not remove that app’s Health Connect permissions. To revoke access fully at the Android sharing layer, also open Health Connect and remove Google Health’s permissions.
Android says Health Connect keeps its database locally on the device and that Google does not use the cloud to store data sent to Health Connect by connected apps. You can manage access and delete entries or categories in Health Connect, but Android warns that connected apps or devices may retain their own copies. Separately, Google says data from other apps connected to Google Health is stored in your account and may be used to calculate Google Health metrics. Local Health Connect storage therefore does not mean every copy of shared data exists only on the phone. See Android Help and Google Health Help.
