You can connect Buffer to Raycast by adding Buffer’s hosted MCP server in Raycast and authorizing it with Buffer OAuth. Buffer’s setup guide requires Raycast Pro for MCP server use; you do not need a Buffer API key for this connection.
What the Raycast and Buffer integration does
The integration lets you use Raycast AI to ask for Buffer tasks in natural language. Buffer’s guide demonstrates adding a post to your queue, checking scheduled posts, and creating drafts for connected channels. Buffer remains responsible for publishing content to your social profiles; its Help Center describes the API as the way other tools hand content to Buffer.
It uses Buffer’s hosted MCP endpoint, rather than a locally generated API key. The guide’s examples illustrate intended tasks, but they do not establish that every Buffer API operation is exposed through Raycast.
What you need before setup
- Raycast with access to Raycast AI and an active Raycast Pro plan, as required by Buffer’s setup guide.
- A Buffer account, with the social profiles you want to use already connected.
- Access to the Buffer sign-in window to approve the OAuth connection.
Buffer says its API is available on every Buffer plan, including Free. That is separate from the Raycast Pro requirement: Buffer plan access does not remove Raycast’s MCP requirement.

Set up Buffer in Raycast
- In Raycast, open the Install MCP Server command.
- Enter Buffer as the server name.
- Choose HTTP as the connection type.
- Enter Buffer’s MCP endpoint:
https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp - Install the server. When the Buffer sign-in window appears, sign in and approve access through OAuth.
No Buffer API key is needed for this OAuth setup. Once authorization is complete, use Raycast AI to request a supported Buffer action.

Check the resulting post, schedule, or draft in Buffer before relying on it. The examples describe the kinds of tasks the guide intends the integration to handle; they are not a guarantee that every request or channel-specific option is available.

Channels and API limits to know
Buffer’s Help Center currently lists API support for Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Google Business Profiles, Mastodon, YouTube, Pinterest, and Bluesky. What you can do depends on the profiles connected to your Buffer account and the features supported for each channel.
- Media: Media must be hosted at a public URL that remains reachable until the post publishes. In this API flow, Buffer retrieves media from the link rather than accepting a native direct file upload.
- Start Page: The API does not support creating or editing Start Page content.
- Comments: The API does not support reading or replying to comments. Use Buffer’s engagement tools for those tasks.
- Analytics: Full analytics and insights are not available through the API. Buffer describes a limited experimental set of post metrics and does not recommend relying on it for reporting.
- Channel features: API support varies by channel, so do not assume every format or publishing feature works across all connected profiles.
Raycast MCP or another Buffer connection?
Choose Raycast’s Buffer MCP connection if you want keyboard-driven, conversational access to tasks such as queueing a post, checking scheduled content, or creating drafts. It uses OAuth and requires Raycast Pro according to Buffer’s guide.

Buffer also lists other AI clients and workflow automation tools, including Zapier, Make, IFTTT, and n8n. Those may suit users building recurring or multi-step workflows, but their features and requirements differ; Buffer’s listing does not establish a feature-by-feature comparison with Raycast.
