Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To connect Bluehost AI Credits to Langflow, open Settings → Model Providers, select OpenAI (or a generic OpenAI-compatible provider), paste your AI Credits API key, enter the gateway endpoint from your Bluehost Portal if a Base URL field appears, save the provider, enable a model, and confirm the connection with a three-component test flow. These steps assume Langflow is already installed and running on a Bluehost Self-Managed VPS or VDS. Installing Langflow itself is outside this guide.
Before you start
- Langflow is running, its initial setup is complete, and you can sign in as an administrator.
- You have a Bluehost Self-Managed VPS or VDS with an active account and a positive AI Credits balance. Bluehost’s “Understanding AI Credits” overview (updated September 16, 2026) states that the service is available on Self-Managed VPS and VDS plans.
- You have the AI Credits API key and the gateway endpoint from the AI Tooling area of your Bluehost Portal. Use the endpoint shown in your own portal, not one copied from an older article or guessed from a pattern.
- You understand that there are two different credentials. The Bluehost AI Credits key authenticates model calls to the gateway. A Langflow API key, if you use one, authenticates requests to your Langflow server. Do not swap them.
Connect the AI Credits key in Langflow
Existing Langflow installation
- In Langflow, open the profile menu and go to Settings → Model Providers.
- Select OpenAI. If your version does not list AI Credits as a named provider, choose the generic or OpenAI-compatible option instead.
- Paste the AI Credits key into the API Key field. If a Base URL field is shown, enter the gateway endpoint from your Bluehost Portal. Field names and availability vary by Langflow version, so match the labels you actually see.
- Save the provider, then enable the models you want to use in flows. Langflow’s Quickstart documentation (version 1.12.x) sets the rule that governs this step: “The key must have permission to call the models you want to use in your flow, and your account must have sufficient credits for the actions you want to perform.” A model that is not enabled, or that the key cannot call, will not work even if the connection itself is correct.
- Add a Language Model or Agent component to a flow and select the configured connection and an enabled model.
First-time setup on a Bluehost VPS or VDS
Bluehost’s setup guide starts in the customer portal and follows this path: Hosting → My Plans, select the server, connect to it over SSH (the guide’s example is ssh root@your_server_ip), open the server’s Langflow dashboard, and then configure the provider as described above. The guide also points to /root/.app_secrets for saved credentials. Treat that file as sensitive: do not paste its contents into tickets, screenshots, or shared logs. This path assumes you have the server access needed to administer it.
Run a smoke test
A model reply is the only reliable proof that the key, endpoint, model selection, and flow wiring all work together. Bluehost’s guide uses this test, and it takes about two minutes.
- Create a new flow and add three components: Chat Input, Language Model, and Chat Output.
- Connect them in order: Chat Input → Language Model → Chat Output.
- In the Language Model component, choose the provider you configured and an enabled model.
- Open the Playground, send a simple prompt such as
Hello?, and wait for a response.
If you receive a reply, the connection works. If you do not, work through the table below in order: balance, key, model access, endpoint, then wiring.

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Insufficient credits | The wallet balance is depleted or too low for the request. | Check the balance in the Bluehost Portal and add credits if appropriate. |
| Invalid API key | The key was mistyped, expired, or revoked. | Copy the AI Credits key again from the portal and re-enter it in the API Key field. |
| Model missing from dropdown | The model is not enabled in Model Providers, or the key lacks access to it. | Return to Settings → Model Providers, confirm the model is enabled, and check the key’s permissions in the portal. |
| Connection error or wrong endpoint | The Base URL is missing, copied from an old source, or does not match the portal. | Compare the Base URL with the gateway endpoint shown in your portal and correct any difference. |
| Flow runs with no output | Components are disconnected, or no model is selected in the Language Model component. | Confirm the chain Chat Input → Language Model → Chat Output and select a model. |
| Ollama connection fails | Only relevant if the same flow also uses a local Ollama model. Ollama is not running, or the base URL or port is wrong. | Confirm the Ollama service is running and that the configured base URL and port match it. |
How AI Credits are priced and billed
Bluehost describes AI Credits as a prepaid balance routed through an AI Gateway, which offers one OpenAI-compatible endpoint and one key for supported models. Each request draws down the balance at per-model token rates. Bluehost’s overview (2026) gives these figures, which it notes are subject to change:
Quick Recap
Best Value
Rank #4
| Credit pack | Credits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 500 | $5 |
| Medium | 1,000 | $10 |
| Large | 5,000 | $50 |
| Extra large | 10,000 | $100 |
- Each credit has a retail value of $0.010, according to the same Bluehost 2026 overview.
- The wallet is shared at the account level, so one balance covers every connected app on the account.
- Credits are valid for 12 months from the most recent purchase, and each new purchase resets that window.
- Per-model rates determine how fast a balance is consumed. Check current rates in the portal before buying, because Bluehost says pricing can change.
Scope and limits
- This is not a separate native connector. The documented method is to enter the gateway key and endpoint in Langflow’s provider settings. Bluehost’s guide is the only source for the Bluehost-specific steps.
- Model availability changes. Bluehost’s help article lists model groups from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI, along with Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Kimi, GLM, and MiniMax. Bluehost’s AI Gateway product page showed 39 supported models at the time it was captured. Treat both as time-sensitive. Your portal is the authoritative list.
- No performance measurements are included. This article does not report latency, output quality, or savings, and it does not establish whether AI Credits cost less than a direct provider account. Compare the shared Bluehost wallet and its validity rules against provider-specific billing for your own usage.
