Pairing your Galaxy Watch and syncing Samsung Health are separate steps: use Galaxy Wearable to connect the watch to a compatible phone, then enable Samsung Health syncing if you want data available through your Samsung account. Compatibility and menu names vary by watch model, phone, software, and region, so check your exact model before setup.
Check compatibility before pairing
Galaxy Watch compatibility depends on its generation and operating system. Samsung’s compatibility table, updated September 11, 2026, lists Android version and minimum RAM requirements by series, and warns that meeting the listed minimums does not guarantee every phone will work. Check the requirements for your precise model and region.
Samsung’s U.S. setup guidance says Wear OS Galaxy Watches are not compatible with iOS. Some older Galaxy Watch generations have separate iPhone support, so do not assume that support for an older model applies to Watch4 or later. Samsung also notes that certain features, including Samsung Pay and Email in its referenced setup guidance, may not be available when using a non-Samsung Android phone.
Pair the watch with an Android phone
- Install Galaxy Wearable from the Google Play Store. Samsung phones may also offer it through Galaxy Store.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone, then open Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Start, select your watch when it appears, and follow the prompts on both devices.
- Complete any requested permissions, account sign-in, restoration, or carrier activation steps.
If Galaxy Wearable is already managing another device, look for an option such as Add new device. The exact label and screens can vary by app version. See Samsung’s setup instructions for device-specific guidance.

Make Samsung Health data sync
A watch connected to the phone in Galaxy Wearable is not necessarily syncing Samsung Health data to your Samsung account. First confirm the watch is connected to the phone over Bluetooth through Galaxy Wearable. Then open Samsung Health on the phone and, in its Settings, enable the Samsung Cloud or Samsung account sync option available in your version. Tap Sync now to start a sync. Samsung Canada notes that some versions also offer a Wi-Fi-only sync setting; menu wording and availability vary by market.
If data still does not appear, work through these checks in order, retrying sync after each change:

- Check that the phone has an internet connection and Bluetooth is on.
- Make sure the watch is not in Power saving, Airplane, or Watch only mode, which can restrict syncing or connectivity.
- Update Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health, and the watch software where updates are available.
- Restart the watch, reconnect if necessary, and try Sync now again.
If you set up the watch without a phone, Samsung says the most recent activity may be stored only on the watch and therefore may not appear on the phone. Use Samsung’s Samsung Health syncing troubleshooting steps for the applicable model. Treat a reset as a later troubleshooting step, not the first one: back up before resetting the watch or app because stored data may be removed.
Move the watch to a new phone without rushing into a reset
Back up before starting a transfer. On models and software versions that offer the option, open Galaxy Wearable and go to Watch settings > Accounts and backup > Back up data. Samsung’s new-phone reconnection guidance explains the transfer process; follow the prompts on the watch to start switching phones, then complete setup in Galaxy Wearable on the new phone.

Depending on the model and software, reconnecting can reset the watch and remove existing data. Restoring from a Tizen watch to a Wear OS watch may also leave some data behind, so do not assume that every setting, app, message, or health record will transfer. Samsung Health data synced to your Samsung account can be accessed on another device, but labels and settings can vary by market. A Wear OS Galaxy Watch can track information in both Samsung Health and Google Fit, but the services do not sync data with each other. If you want a particular activity or measurement in one service, use that service on the watch and check its own syncing settings; do not expect it to appear in the other automatically. Samsung explains this limitation in its Google Fit guidance for Wear OS Galaxy Watches.
