You can use Samsung DeX on a Galaxy Tab S12 for a desktop-like workspace, with a keyboard and mouse controlling apps on a larger display. For the monitor, choose either a wired HDMI connection or wireless DeX. Samsung documents both methods for Galaxy tablets, but its reviewed S12-specific information does not confirm USB-C video output or adapter compatibility for every Tab S12 variant. Check your exact model before buying a wired adapter.
Before you connect: check your Tab S12 model
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 Series page confirms that the series supports Samsung DeX, which provides a PC-like workspace. Samsung’s general Galaxy tablet DeX guide explains how to connect a monitor by HDMI, but the reviewed S12-specific material does not explicitly establish USB-C video output or certify a particular adapter for every S12 variant.
Before choosing the wired route, confirm that your exact tablet model supports video output over USB-C and that the adapter works with your monitor’s input and desired resolution. A USB-C connector alone does not establish that a tablet can send video through it.

Option 1: Connect the monitor by HDMI
- Connect a compatible USB-C-to-HDMI adapter or cable to the tablet, then connect the display’s HDMI cable as required by the adapter. Verify video-output and adapter compatibility for your exact Tab S12 variant first.
- Turn on the monitor and select its HDMI input if it does not switch automatically.
- Unlock the tablet. If a prompt appears, tap Start to enter DeX. If the monitor initially mirrors the tablet instead, use Quick Settings or the DeX notification to switch to Samsung DeX.
- Pair a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse through the tablet’s Bluetooth settings. Samsung also documents USB keyboard and mouse control for DeX, but it does not certify a particular hub and peripheral combination for the Tab S12.
Bluetooth is convenient when the HDMI adapter occupies the tablet’s USB-C port. If you prefer wired peripherals or need to charge while connected, a USB-C hub with HDMI and USB-A ports may help, but confirm the hub’s compatibility with your exact tablet and monitor rather than assuming it will work.

Option 2: Connect to a display wirelessly
- On the tablet, open Settings > Connected devices > Samsung DeX > Connect wirelessly.
- Select a compatible TV or smart monitor and approve the prompts on the tablet and display.
- Pair your keyboard and mouse with the tablet over Bluetooth.
Samsung recommends keeping the tablet near the display to help maintain a stable wireless connection. Wireless performance can vary with the environment, so a wired connection may be preferable when you need a more dependable display link—provided your specific Tab S12 supports USB-C video output.

Keyboard options for the Tab S12
Samsung lists the Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim for the Tab S12 Series. These can replace a separate keyboard; a mouse remains a separate choice. Match the keyboard cover to the exact tablet size and model before ordering. Samsung’s keyboard and mouse guide for DeX also describes supported input options, but its supported-device list does not name the Tab S12. The S12 product page is the relevant confirmation of DeX support for this series.
