To connect a Honeywell smart thermostat to Wi-Fi, first identify its exact model: the T9, T10/T10+ Pro, and Lyric T6 use different setup paths. You’ll need your network name (SSID) and password. Follow the matching steps below, then use the app instructions for your model and account.
Before you connect: identify the thermostat and Wi-Fi details
Check the thermostat’s model name on its screen, product label, or manual before choosing a procedure. The menu labels and app setup differ by model, so one Honeywell connection path does not fit every thermostat. Have the home Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password ready.
For a Lyric T6, Resideo’s guide specifies a secure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and requires Wi-Fi to be enabled on the phone or tablet used for setup. That requirement is specific to the T6 guidance; it should not be assumed for every Honeywell thermostat. See the Lyric T6 user guide.
Connect a T9 thermostat to Wi-Fi
- Wake the thermostat and tap Menu.
- Scroll to Wi-Fi and confirm Enable is selected.
- Tap Choose network, then select your home network.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password and follow any on-screen prompts.

Connect a T10 or T10+ Pro to Wi-Fi and its app
Join the Wi-Fi network
- Open Menu on the thermostat.
- Select WiFi, then tap Choose Network.
- Select your home network and complete the on-screen connection steps.
Link the app separately
The T10/T10+ Pro guide treats Wi-Fi connection and app linking as separate steps. To link the app, open Menu > Connect App on the thermostat and follow the on-screen instructions. The instructions are in Resideo/Honeywell Home guide 33-00428-05: T10/T10+ Pro connection guide.
Set up or reconnect a Lyric T6
Initial setup
Install the Honeywell Home app, create an account, and follow the app’s instructions to connect the thermostat. The guide says a successful Wi-Fi and app connection is indicated briefly by SUCCESS on the thermostat and a connected symbol.

Change or reconnect the network
For a network change or reconnection, use Thermostat Configuration in the app. The Lyric T6 guide specifies secure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for this model: Lyric T6 user guide.
Choose the app that matches your thermostat and account
Do not assume every Honeywell thermostat uses the same app. Resideo’s First Alert app notice, last updated May 30, 2025, said initial launch support covered specified T5/T6 and T9/T10/T10+ thermostat families. It also said existing Total Connect Comfort, Total Connect 2.0, Resideo, or Honeywell Home users could continue using their current app until migrated to or compatible with the First Alert app, and that TCC/TC2.0 devices were not supported at launch. Because app availability and migration can change, use the instructions shown for your exact model and account, and check Resideo’s current app support information.

Fix Wi-Fi setup problems
If the thermostat reports an incorrect password
Resideo says the T9/T10 error “Incorrect Password – Please re-enter the password and try again” means the thermostat did not connect to local Wi-Fi because the password was incorrect. To verify it, forget the home network on a phone, reconnect to that network, and enter the password there. If the phone cannot connect, check the password before retrying on the thermostat. If the connection still fails
- Restart or power-cycle the modem and Wi-Fi router or gateway.
- Adjust or reorient the router antennas, if applicable.
- Check that the router or gateway has current system updates.
