To connect a Galaxy Watch to a Samsung phone, install and open Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app, turn on Bluetooth on both devices, select the watch in the app, and follow the pairing prompts. Compatibility depends on the watch generation, phone’s Android version, and region. After pairing, Galaxy Wearable manages settings and notifications; health, calls, music, and other data sync through separate features and settings.
Check that your watch and phone are compatible
Samsung’s Singapore compatibility table, last updated September 5, 2026, lists these minimum phone requirements for the named watch families. Each listed generation requires at least 1.5 GB of RAM, and Samsung says these Wear OS models do not support iOS. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee every feature will work on every phone.

These are Samsung’s published thresholds for the listed models, not a guarantee of full feature support. Samsung also says tablets are unsupported for these pairings and that some non-Samsung phones may not work. Check the requirements for your exact model and region in Samsung’s compatibility and connection guidance.
Older devices need a separate check. Samsung Canada says select earlier models—including Galaxy Watch, Watch Active, Watch Active2, Watch3, and some Galaxy Fit devices—can pair with an iPhone using older Samsung apps, with some features unavailable; that guidance applies to devices sold in Canada. Watch4 and later Wear OS models are not iOS-compatible. Separately, Samsung says some older Gear models work with Galaxy S25 only on Android 4.3–13, not on Galaxy phones running Android 14 or later. Pair a Galaxy Watch with your Samsung phone
- Turn on the watch and enable Bluetooth on the phone. Keep the devices close together.
- Install and open Galaxy Wearable on the phone. If it is not installed, get Samsung’s official app from a trusted app store.
- Tap Start or Continue if prompted, then let the app search for nearby devices.
- Select your watch when it appears. Confirm the pairing prompt on the phone and watch, and check that any displayed code or number matches.
- Follow the remaining on-screen steps, including agreements and requested permissions. Allow setup to finish before changing settings.
- In Galaxy Wearable, choose which phone apps can send notifications to the watch. Some models also let you synchronize supported modes, such as Sleep.
Names and screens can differ by watch, software version, and region. Samsung’s detailed setup instructions for Galaxy S25 with Watch Ultra, Watch7, or Fit3 describe those combinations specifically; if your screen differs, consult the support page for your watch model.
What syncs after pairing
Pairing is not a single switch that copies everything between the phone and watch. Galaxy Wearable controls the connection and watch settings, while individual features determine which information moves and where it goes. Samsung documents the following examples for Galaxy S25 paired with Watch7, Watch Ultra, or Fit3; availability can vary by model.

- Notifications: Choose which phone apps can send notifications in Galaxy Wearable. Some notifications appear on the watch only when the phone screen is off or locked, depending on settings.
- Health data: Daily health data from the named watches syncs to Samsung Health on the connected phone. Samsung Health’s Sync with Samsung Cloud setting enables ongoing cloud sync, but this is not a guarantee that every metric syncs on every watch or account.
- Music and photos: On Watch7 and Watch Ultra, Galaxy Wearable’s Manage content controls support automatic music sync and syncing selected photo albums. Samsung says these transfers are not available on Fit3.
- Calls and messages: These can work over Bluetooth when the watch is connected to a Galaxy phone. An LTE watch with active network service may use its mobile connection instead. The same messaging app must be configured on the phone and watch.
- Modes: Samsung documents synchronization of supported modes, such as Sleep, between the phone and watch.
Samsung Health Monitor has separate requirements for certain functions: Samsung’s S25 guidance specifies a Galaxy phone running Android 11.0 or later, at least 2 GB of RAM, and Samsung Health Monitor version 6.22 or later from Galaxy Store. This is not a general requirement for pairing or syncing other watch data. Samsung states that its heart-rate software functions are not intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease.

Back up the watch before transferring it. Samsung warns that, depending on the watch model and software version, connecting it to a new phone may reset the watch and remove existing data.

- On the currently connected phone, open Galaxy Wearable and go to Watch settings > Accounts and backup > Back up data.
- On the watch, open Settings > General > Transfer watch to new phone and confirm the check mark. This menu is available on models that support the newer transfer flow.
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the new phone, tap Start, and select the watch.
- Confirm that the number shown on the phone matches the number on the watch. Continue through the agreements and setup prompts.
- If a backup is available, choose the restore option when it appears, then wait for setup to complete.
Samsung’s new-phone transfer instructions note that the process and data outcome depend on the watch model and software; a backup does not guarantee that transfer will avoid a reset or preserve every item.

- Check Bluetooth on both devices. Make sure it is enabled on the phone and watch.
- Bring the devices together. Samsung gives 10 m (32 ft) as the maximum Bluetooth range, but says actual range varies with the environment. For pairing, keep the phone and watch beside one another and reduce obstacles.
- Reopen and update Galaxy Wearable. Confirm the app is installed and updated, open it again, and scan for or select the watch.
- Review Google Play services permissions. On the phone, open Settings > Apps > Google Play services > Permissions. Under Not allowed, allow the relevant permissions shown for the connection.
- Restart both devices. Then launch Galaxy Wearable and try pairing again.
- Verify compatibility. Check the exact watch model, Android version, RAM, and region-specific support before moving on to more disruptive steps.
Samsung’s connection troubleshooting guidance recommends these checks. Do not factory-reset as a first step: it can remove watch data, and Samsung warns that moving to a new phone may already trigger a reset on some models.
