There isn’t enough comparable evidence to name 12 all-terrain tires with the best treadwear ratings. UTQG treadwear grades are comparative manufacturer assessments, not mileage forecasts, and a mileage warranty is a separate coverage promise—not a measured wear result. The useful way to shop is to compare the exact tire size and market, verify the current grade and warranty, and weigh those figures against road and off-road performance.
What a treadwear rating can—and cannot—tell you
In the United States, the Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG) treadwear grade is a comparative measure, not a number of miles. Consumer Reports describes the grading as manufacturer-assigned and imprecise, so a higher grade should not be converted into a specific lifespan estimate. Consumer Reports explains the UTQG system.
Toyo Tires’ March 2025 OE Warranty Booklet says the grade is based on wear rate on a specified government test track and cautions that “It is wrong to link treadwear grades with your projected tire mileage.” The grade can help compare tires within the grading system, but real-world wear also depends on factors such as vehicle, alignment, inflation, load, driving, and maintenance. Read Toyo’s 2025 warranty booklet.

| Measure | What it tells you | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| UTQG treadwear grade | A comparative manufacturer grade under the UTQG system for applicable tires and markets. | A guaranteed number of miles or a direct prediction of service life. |
| Mileage warranty | The manufacturer’s stated coverage promise, subject to its terms and exclusions. | How long a tire will actually last or how it performed in a controlled wear test. |
| Measured wear test | Wear observed under the specific test’s conditions, if the test reports it. | Identical results on different vehicles, sizes, roads, climates, or driving patterns. |
For example, Tyre Reviews’ 2026 all-terrain life comparison is warranty-based, not a measured wear test. Its cost analysis therefore cannot establish which model lasts longest in use. See the 2026 comparison and its stated basis.

12 all-terrain models worth checking—not a treadwear ranking
The available evidence names 12 models across two different test contexts. They are candidates to investigate, not a verified top 12 for treadwear: the sources do not establish a current, size-specific set of directly comparable UTQG grades and warranty mileages for all of them.
Models included in Tyre Reviews’ 2026 comparison
- Falken Wildpeak AT4W
- Nitto Recon Grappler AT
- Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT
- BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO3
- Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT
The comparison’s warranty-based analysis should not be read as a measured-wear ranking. Confirm the exact product, size, current warranty, and exclusions for your market before treating a warranty figure as relevant to your purchase.

- Snow braking: BFGoodrich Trail Terrain T/A recorded 10.9 m from 30 km/h, the shortest snow-braking distance among the tested all-terrain tires.
- Overall on-road safety: The test presentation said the all-terrain tires were weaker on-road than its all-season reference and that none of the tested all-terrain tires earned an ADAC recommendation.
Those findings apply to the tested group, size, and conditions—not every all-terrain tire, size, or regional variant. They illustrate why a treadwear figure alone is not enough to choose a tire. Read the reported 2025 ADAC test results.

- Start with the vehicle’s required specification. Check the door-jamb placard or owner’s manual for the approved tire size and load and speed requirements. Compare tires only after confirming they meet those requirements.
- Match the exact size and market variant. A model name can cover multiple sizes or versions. Confirm the full size and load/speed rating on the tire and the manufacturer’s documentation; do not assume a result or grade carries over to another version.
- Find the current UTQG grade where it applies. Check the tire’s sidewall and current manufacturer information for the exact product. If a grade is not established for that version, do not infer one from another size or market.
- Read the mileage warranty terms. Verify the stated mileage, eligible sizes, maintenance requirements, and exclusions in the current warranty document. Treat it as coverage terms, not an expected lifespan.
- Check performance evidence that matches your driving. Look for wet and dry handling or braking, snow performance, and off-road capability in a test of the same size and relevant variant. A result from a different size or regional model is not proof of equivalent performance.
- Balance road use, terrain, and cost. Consider how often you drive on pavement, gravel, snow, or rough trails. A tire’s durability-related claims do not by themselves establish its braking or handling suitability for your routes.
Consumer Reports’ tire ratings list tested tread life, warranty, and UTQG as distinct comparison fields; access to full ratings may require a subscription. See Consumer Reports’ tire ratings.
