You can plan a run to collect 1,000 web search results quickly by using an authorized search API, requesting the largest documented page size, and paging until you have 1,000 unique URLs or the API runs out of results. But “under five minutes” is a target to measure, not a documented guarantee: short pages, overlapping pages, retries, and query-specific result depth can all change the outcome.

For Bing Web Search API v7, Microsoft documents a maximum requested page size of 50, so 20 requests is the theoretical minimum for 1,000 rows if every request returns 50 distinct results. That arithmetic is not a promise of 1,000 unique results or a speed benchmark.

Choose an API you are allowed to use

Use a search API whose eligibility rules and terms fit your project. An API quota tells you how many requests or queries you may make; it does not tell you how many results a single query will return.

Bing Web Search API

Microsoft’s Bing Web Search API v7 supports paging with the count and offset query parameters. The documented maximum for count is 50, although a response can contain fewer results than requested. Pages may overlap, so keep paging based on what you actually received and deduplicate the URLs you save. Use the current Microsoft documentation and your account’s applicable access and usage terms before building against the API.

Google Search Researcher Result API

Google’s Search Researcher Result API is not a general-purpose commercial search API. Access is limited to approved researcher projects, and the program is non-commercial. Google documents a quota of 1,000 queries per day per approved project; that is a query quota, not a promise that one query returns 1,000 results. Check the program’s current eligibility and usage conditions before applying or relying on it.

Do not substitute unauthorized Google scraping

Do not automate Google Search result pages as a workaround unless you have express permission. Google Search Central says that automated queries and scraping search results without express permission violate its spam policies and Terms of Service. Choose an authorized API or a provider whose terms explicitly permit your intended use.

Plan the run around unique results

Set the target as 1,000 distinct URLs, not 1,000 rows or 1,000 requests. A search API may return fewer items than requested, repeat URLs across pages, or stop exposing additional results before you reach your target. The reachable unique-result count depends on the query, market, API, settings, and available depth.

  1. Fix the search inputs. Record the exact query and any market, language, safe-search, or other settings supported by the chosen API. Keep them unchanged throughout a run so its results are interpretable.
  2. Request the largest documented page. For Bing Web Search API v7, set count=50, the documented maximum. Start at the first page using the API’s documented offset convention.
  3. Save each response before moving on. Preserve the raw response where permitted, along with the query, request offset, retrieval timestamp, and API source. Store each result’s original rank, URL, title, and snippet when returned.
  4. Advance using the API’s paging rules. Increase the offset according to the number of results actually returned, following the provider’s current documentation. Do not assume every page fills to the requested count.
  5. Deduplicate without discarding provenance. Normalize URLs for comparison, but retain each original URL and its page/rank information. Count the normalized unique URLs toward 1,000; keep duplicate rows in the raw record so overlap remains visible.
  6. Stop at the target or at exhaustion. Stop when you have 1,000 unique URLs, reach a documented result limit, or receive no further results. Report which happened rather than implying a complete 1,000-result collection if the API returned fewer.

Why 20 requests is only a theoretical minimum

At a maximum requested page size of 50, 1,000 divided by 50 equals 20 pages. This is the best-case request count for 1,000 rows under that page-size ceiling, assuming every response fills and every row is distinct. It is not a guaranteed count for 1,000 unique URLs: a short page or overlap can require more requests, and the API may not expose enough distinct results for the query.

  • Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.

Do not infer completion from the number of requests alone. Track three separate totals: raw result rows received, unique URLs after normalization, and pages requested. If you receive 1,000 rows but only 930 unique URLs, you have not collected 1,000 distinct results.

Measure whether your workflow meets five minutes

Time the complete run, not just the API calls. Include request latency, retry delays, response parsing, URL normalization and deduplication, and writing results to storage. A quick response from the first page does not establish the end-to-end time for twenty or more pages.

  • Record the conditions: query, market or geography, API and access type, settings, start and finish times, and the date of the run.
  • Record the work: request count, raw rows, unique URLs, short pages, overlaps, retries, and whether the target was reached.
  • Repeat representative queries: result depth and latency can vary by query and market. A single successful run is evidence for that run, not a general speed guarantee.
  • Set bounded retries: retry transient failures with a limit and backoff rather than letting one stalled request consume the entire time budget. Count retry time in the reported elapsed time.
  • Keep collection and processing visible: log page offsets and response counts so a partial run can be diagnosed or resumed without silently double-counting pages.

Report a result plainly, for example: “For query X in market Y, this configuration returned N raw rows and M unique URLs in Z minutes across R requests on [date].” Do not claim that the method can always deliver 1,000 unique results in under five minutes unless repeated measurements support that statement for the stated conditions.

What to compare when choosing a search route

Factor What to verify
Maximum page size Documented requested maximum, and whether responses can be shorter.
Paging depth How offsets or continuation tokens work, and whether the provider imposes a result-depth ceiling.
Result quality and uniqueness How many distinct URLs the specific query and market actually yield; measure overlap across pages.
Quota and eligibility Whether limits apply per query, project, account, or time window, and who may use the API.
Geography and fields Market controls and which result fields—such as URL, title, and snippet—are returned.
Operational fit Latency, retry behavior, persistence needs, commercial-use terms, and total cost under your workload.

The documented mechanics alone do not establish which commercial search-results provider will return 1,000 distinct results for your particular query and market inside five minutes. Verify current provider documentation and measure your own workload before choosing on speed.

Troubleshooting short or incomplete runs

  • Fewer than 50 results on a page: the requested count is a maximum, not a guaranteed response size. Save what arrived and continue paging according to the API’s rules.
  • Raw count reaches 1,000 but unique count does not: pages overlap or contain duplicate URLs. Deduplicate for the target while retaining raw rows and ranks for auditability.
  • The API stops before 1,000 unique URLs: the provider may not expose more results for that query, setting, or market. Record the actual total; do not manufacture a larger count by repeating pages.
  • Offsets skip or repeat items: check the provider’s current offset semantics and advance based on its paging instructions and actual response. Preserve offsets and response data so you can identify gaps or overlap.
  • The run exceeds five minutes: inspect per-request latency, short pages, overlap, retries, parsing, and storage separately. A smaller result set or a different authorized API may be necessary; a page-size maximum does not control latency.
  • Access or quota errors: confirm that the API is enabled for the account, that the project meets eligibility rules, and that the request is within its current quota and terms. Google’s researcher program is restricted and non-commercial, not a fallback for general commercial use.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API, not a search-results API: it returns an image or PDF of a page, not a structured list of search-result URLs. If your separate task is to capture a search page visually, one GET request can return a clean screenshot. Its cleanup steps accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers screenshot tools for AI agents.

FAQ

Can I get 1,000 search results from one query?

Possibly, depending on the API’s result depth for that query and its market, but the documented quota or maximum page size does not establish that one query will yield 1,000 unique URLs.

Should I use a screenshot tool to collect structured search results?

No. A screenshot records how a page looks; it does not provide the structured URLs, titles, and snippets needed for a deduplicated results dataset. Use a permitted search API for that job.
