There is no single cache-clearing menu for every Philips Smart TV. If your set has Android TV’s per-app controls, clear the cache for the affected app. On certain other Philips models, use the TV’s Clear Internet Memory or Clear App memory control instead. These options have different effects, so first identify your TV’s model and software platform.
Choose the cache-clearing path that matches your TV
Philips documents different steps for Android TV and for the Smart TV models whose network menus include an Internet Memory control. Menu names and availability vary by model and software version; the instructions below are not a universal menu map. If you cannot find the stated option, check the manual for your exact model rather than selecting a similarly named control.

Clear an Android TV app’s cache
- Open Settings > Device > Apps.
- Select the app that is freezing, crashing, or failing to play content.
- Choose the cache-clearing option if it appears, then reopen the app and check whether the problem is resolved.
Philips’ Android TV manual also describes force-stopping apps and reviewing internal storage as app-management options. Use the manual that matches your model if your menus differ.
Clear Internet Memory on supported Philips Smart TVs
- Open Home > Setup > Network or Network Settings, depending on the model.
- Select Clear Internet Memory or Clear App memory, if that option is available. On some documented sets, the path is Settings > All settings > Network > Clear Internet Memory.
Philips says clearing Internet Memory deletes cookies and browsing history. Its documented procedure does not show a confirmation prompt. Do not assume this option is equivalent to clearing one app’s cache.

If an app still hangs, shows a black screen, or crashes
Philips lists playback interruptions or hangs, a black screen when opening an app, crashes, and error messages among app problems. Work through these checks before trying more disruptive app or TV changes:
- Check the basics: Confirm the app is running on the TV itself, the TV is connected to the internet, other apps work, and the TV software is current. Philips’ app troubleshooting page recommends checking these conditions.
- Use the matching memory control: Try per-app cache on a supported Android TV, or the Internet Memory option if your model provides it.
- Restart the TV: Unplug it, disconnect attached devices, and wait at least two minutes. Reconnect power and turn on the TV; reconnect the other devices afterward if needed. This is Philips’ specified restart procedure.
- Escalate using model-specific instructions: If the issue persists, Philips points to refreshing the TV’s app whitelist and reinstalling the TV. Consult the support documentation for your exact model before reinstalling.
Clear Data is not the same as Clear Cache
Philips separately describes Clear Data for certain Android app or Play Store errors. Its documented route is Settings or General Settings > Android Settings > Apps > select the affected app > Clear Data. Use it only when troubleshooting the relevant error and following Philips’ instructions for your model. The source does not describe Clear Data as interchangeable with clearing cache; app data can have more substantial app-specific effects.

Identify your Philips model before changing settings
Philips’ cited instructions apply to particular model groups and Android TV manuals, not necessarily every Philips platform or region. Find your model number on the TV label or in its settings, then use the matching Philips support page or manual. If the menu path is absent, do not infer that a different control will do the same thing.

Philips US guidance gives limited model-year clues: certain 2019 US models ending in 04/F7 are described as Android 8; certain 2020 /F7 A or /F7 C models as Android 9; and 2021-and-newer models as having model numbers greater than 4 in that series context. Low storage is a separate issue
On supported Android TV models, Philips’ manual says a USB hard drive can be formatted as additional memory for apps, although some apps cannot be stored on it. That expands app storage; it does not clear cache. Check your model’s manual for compatibility and instructions before connecting or formatting a drive.
