After a sweaty run, switch your Shokz headphones off and gently wipe them with a clean, soft, dry cloth. If sweat residue remains, Shokz’s general care guidance allows a clean, damp cloth; dry the headphones thoroughly afterward. Keep them off the charger until the headphones and charging area are fully dry. The exact wet-handling advice depends on your model.
How to clean Shokz headphones after a run
- Switch them off. This is a sensible handling precaution before wiping; Shokz’s general cleaning article does not specifically require it.
- Wipe away sweat. Use a clean, soft, dry cloth on the exterior. Shokz recommends a dry cloth for routine care, including after a sweaty workout. Shokz’s general cleaning guidance and its OpenRun FAQ both describe this approach.
- For residue, use a clean, damp cloth. Shokz’s general care article permits this for more thorough cleaning. It is not an instruction to soak or rinse the headphones.
- Dry before storing or charging. Wipe away moisture and let the headphones and charging area dry fully. Follow any additional drying steps for your model.
Do not use disposable alcohol pads on Shokz open-ear headphones: Shokz warns that the chemicals may affect waterproofing. The general cleaning guidance is not permission to use sprays, solvents, or other cleaners.
What to do if your Shokz model gets wet
Water-resistance ratings and care instructions differ by model. They do not mean every Shokz headphone can be submerged or used in the shower. Shokz says not all models are waterproof, and its best-practices guidance warns against sauna use and submersion except for products designed for water sports. Check your exact model’s instructions rather than applying another model’s rating or drying procedure.

Can you charge Shokz headphones when they are wet?
No. Do not charge them while wet. Dry the headphones and charging area completely first. If your model displays or sounds a moisture alert, follow its instructions; for the OpenRun and OpenRun Pro, Shokz specifically says to dry the port and wait until it is dry before charging.

What not to do
- Do not use alcohol pads on Shokz open-ear headphones; Shokz says their chemicals may affect waterproofing.
- Do not treat a water-resistance rating as permission to submerge. Exposure limits vary by model.
- Do not charge before the port is dry, even if the outside feels dry to the touch.
- Do not assume earbuds or charging-case cleaning advice applies to Shokz open-ear headphones.
