Clean your Samsung dryer’s lint filter after every load. Turn the dryer off, remove the filter according to your model, clear away lint, and reinstall the filter correctly. If lint is stuck, use a soft brush; rinse the filter only if needed, and let it dry completely before putting it back. Never run the dryer without its filter installed.
Find the lint filter on your Samsung dryer
Filter location and construction vary by model. Many dryers have a removable filter inside the drum, while some designs use nested inner and outer filters. Some washer-dryer combos may not have a lint filter. Check the user manual for your model’s location and removal instructions rather than forcing a part that does not match the design. Samsung’s US guidance describes a filter pulled from inside the drum; its Australia guidance notes that location and procedure depend on the model and purchase market. Clean the filter after each load
Samsung recommends cleaning the lint filter before or after every load; its US guidance prefers before a cycle and says cleaning both before and after is better. Canada and Australia also advise cleaning it after every load. For routine maintenance, remove visible lint by hand. Clear lint from the filter slot as well if it has accumulated there.

Samsung Canada advises unplugging it, too. If it has just been used, wait for the drum to cool completely.
- Open the door or filter cover, then remove the filter as directed in your model’s manual.
- Peel or wipe away lint by hand. If lint is stuck, gently brush the filter with a soft brush. For lint around the slot, use a soft brush or vacuum attachment.
- If needed, rinse the filter under warm water and gently scrub it with a soft brush. Do not reinstall a rinsed filter until it is completely dry.
- Reassemble multi-part filters as designed, then return the filter to its original position.

Take extra care with inner-and-outer filter designs
On models with inner and outer filters, separate and clean the parts only as described in the manual. Samsung Australia’s instructions for the applicable design say to dry the filters completely in the shade, avoid shaking or tapping the assembly, and avoid opening it carelessly or with excessive force. Do not remove a rubber seal if your model’s manual says to leave it in place. Samsung’s Laundry Combo manual gives a model-family example of cleaning the inner and outer filters after each dry cycle and shade-drying them. These instructions are not universal to every Samsung dryer; follow the instructions for your exact model.

Check the filter before running the dryer
- Make sure it is fully dry. Moisture left after rinsing is a reason to wait before reinstalling.
- Confirm it is seated correctly. Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter in place; Samsung warns that doing so may reduce performance or create a fire risk.
- Replace damage rather than using it. Do not use a broken or damaged filter. Identify a compatible replacement by the dryer’s model code; Samsung US directs replacement inquiries to Samsung Parts.

The removable lint filter and the dryer’s exhaust vent are separate parts of the airflow path. Cleaning the filter after each load does not replace exhaust-vent maintenance. Samsung US recommends professional exhaust-vent cleaning; it also lists tools for owners who choose to do that work themselves. If clothes continue to dry poorly despite a clean, correctly installed filter, consult your model manual and consider whether the vent needs attention.
