Power off the Switch 2 and unplug accessories before cleaning. Wipe Nintendo products with a soft, clean cloth lightly dampened with water, then let them dry completely. For the travel case itself, follow its maker’s care label: Nintendo’s product-care guidance does not establish a cleaning method for every case fabric or coating.
Clean the console and accessories safely
- Power off and unplug. Turn off the console and disconnect accessories before cleaning. Nintendo’s Switch 2 cleaning guidance specifies this precaution.
- Wipe gently. Dampen a soft, clean cloth with water and wring out excess moisture before wiping the product. For handheld-screen smudges, Nintendo’s general handheld-system care guidance says a soft lens or eyeglass cleaning cloth is suitable.
- Keep liquid away from openings. Do not pour liquid directly onto a product or submerge it. Let cleaned items dry completely before using or packing them.
- Disinfect only if needed. Nintendo says to lightly apply consumer-grade disinfectant containing about 70% alcohol to a soft cloth, then gently wipe the product. Do not apply disinfectant directly to the console or accessory.
Clean the travel case according to its material
Check the case’s care label or instructions before cleaning it. A fabric case, coated surface, and hard shell may have different care requirements; Nintendo’s product-cleaning instructions do not establish that every case material can tolerate water or alcohol. Avoid soaking the case or using aggressive cleaners around electronics. Remove the console and accessories before cleaning the case, and allow it to dry fully before packing them again.
Pack accessories so they stay together
- Lay out what the trip actually requires, such as the console, charger if needed, and selected games or small accessories.
- Give loose items a designated compartment or small pouch so they do not drift around the case.
- Avoid overfilling, and do not press loose objects against the console or screen.
- Check the case’s actual interior dimensions and layout against the items you plan to carry. Nintendo lists a Switch 2 All-in-One Carrying Case, but that listing’s available information does not establish a precise compartment layout or capacity for every accessory combination.
For Nintendo’s carrying case, Nintendo instructs users to store the console switched off with the Joy-Con 2 controllers attached; see the carrying case and screen protector instructions. That guidance concerns Nintendo’s case and should not be assumed to describe the layout or requirements of other cases.

What to check when choosing a case
A protective Switch 2 travel case can help guard against impact damage, but a category recommendation does not guarantee that a particular third-party case fits the console or the accessories you carry. Before choosing one, compare:

- Interior layout and clearance around the screen.
- Game-card storage and room for the charger and other planned accessories.
- Overall dimensions and bulk, plus fit for any controllers or accessories you intend to pack.
Nintendo’s guidance supports using a suitable soft cleaning cloth, and a clean cloth you already own may be sufficient. Check individual product details rather than assuming every case or pouch is compatible.
