First identify the offer: a game included with a new Xbox console is usually a Digital Direct offer, while a Game Pass benefit may be an in-game item rather than a full game. Digital Direct offers are claimed on the console and appear in your digital library; Game Pass benefits are found in the Benefits area and may require you to launch a supported game.
Check what kind of Xbox offer you have
Follow the instructions shown with the offer, because these two common offer types have different claim and delivery steps.

- Digital Direct: Digital content included with a qualifying console, such as a game or subscription. Xbox says no code is required.
- Game Pass benefit: An offer accessed through Game Pass or the Xbox app. It may be an in-game item or another benefit; do not assume it is a full game or a permanent game license.
Claim a Digital Direct offer included with a console
Use the Microsoft account that should receive the offer. Xbox says the offer is attached to the first Microsoft account that redeems it.

- Set up the console and sign in with the intended Microsoft account.
- When the included content is presented, select Claim it.
- After claiming, open My Games & Apps and check your digital library.
Claim after setup
- On the console, open Settings > Account > Included with this Xbox.
- Check the included offer and select the claim option shown on screen.
- Look for claimed content in your digital library under My Games & Apps.
Xbox describes Digital Direct content as delivered to the console and available in the digital library. For a game, claiming adds the entitlement; installing or downloading it is a separate step. Select the game in your library and follow the console’s download or installation prompts.

Claim a Game Pass benefit
Find the Benefits area on the Xbox device or app you are using. Xbox documents these entry points:
- Xbox console: Select Benefits on the Home screen or open the Game Pass section.
- Xbox PC app: Select Benefits on Home or open the Game Pass tab.
- Xbox mobile app: Select Benefits.
- Open the specific benefit and read its requirements, eligibility details, and any stated deadline.
- Complete the setup steps listed for that offer. Some benefits require linking an Xbox profile to a separate game account; this is offer-specific, not a universal requirement.
- Launch the supported game on an Xbox console, PC, or other supported device if the offer directs you to do so.
- Follow the in-game instructions to access the benefit.
For example, in an Xbox Wire announcement dated March 26, 2025, Xbox said members claiming certain benefits for free-to-play games should link their Xbox profile with the relevant game account where applicable, then launch the participating game through Xbox on PC or console. That example explains that particular flow; it does not establish a rule for every benefit.

What to check if the offer is missing or different
- Confirm the offer type: A console-attached Digital Direct offer is not claimed through the same flow as a Game Pass benefit.
- Check the account: For Digital Direct, confirm that you are using the Microsoft account that redeemed the offer.
- Read the offer terms: Eligibility, region, expiry date, supported platform, and account-linking requirements can vary. The general Xbox pages do not establish one set of rules for all offers.
- Check what was promised: A Game Pass benefit may be in-game content rather than a downloadable game. For a Digital Direct game, check the digital library after claiming, then install it from there.
If the item still does not appear or the on-screen steps do not match your offer, use the instructions attached to that offer or contact Xbox Support. The general claim guides do not specify a single fix for every missing entitlement.
