There is no single best plane in Wings of Heroes. Choose for the way you want to fight—speed, maneuverability, damage, survivability, or a balance of those traits—then weigh tier-based matchmaking, rarity, upgrades, and the mode you play. Plane recommendations are snapshots rather than guarantees: check the aircraft’s current in-game stats and your own build before spending scarce upgrade resources.
Start with the trade-off you want
The class descriptions below are shorthand used by Pocket Gamer’s guide, not developer-certified performance rules or controlled test results. Use them to narrow your choices, then compare aircraft in your hangar.
| Class | Guide’s description | May suit players who want |
|---|---|---|
| Light fighter | Lowest turn time, but lower speed and survivability than fighters | Sharp maneuverability |
| Fighter | Emphasis on speed and turn time, with low survivability | Fast, aggressive engagements |
| Bomber | High survivability, but low turn time | Staying power and sustained damage |
| Attack aircraft | Described as fast, damaging, lightly armored, and broadly balanced | A mix of speed and damage |
| Multirole fighter | Described as fast, medium-armored, and damaging | Versatility and mixed weapon options |
In practice, consider what you need most in a fight. A plane that turns quickly may be easier to keep on a target, while a durable aircraft may give you more time to attack. A large arsenal can add options, but it does not automatically make a plane the right fit for your preferred tactics.

For speed and chasing
Look at fighters and other fast aircraft, while keeping survivability in mind. Pocket Gamer describes the Tier II Messerschmitt BF 109 B-1 as very fast with a relatively short turn time, but with very low survivability. Its guide describes the Tier IX Spitfire F MK IX as very fast and suited to hounding opponents. These are editorial assessments, not official rankings or independently verified test results.

For staying power and sustained damage
Consider bombers if you are willing to trade maneuverability for durability. Pocket Gamer characterizes the Tier III Blenheim MK I as slow but relatively well-rounded, with good damage and survivability. At Tier IX, it contrasts the slow, heavily armed B-17E Flying Fortress with the faster Spitfire. Check the live hangar before relying on a guide’s tier placement or stat description.
For versatility and mixed damage
A multirole fighter may be a reasonable starting point if you want a flexible loadout. Pocket Gamer describes the Beaufighter MK X and PE-2-31 as balanced aircraft with large arsenals and suspended armaments. Its aircraft groupings have some placement and formatting inconsistencies, so verify each aircraft’s tier and current attributes in-game rather than treating the guide’s presentation as definitive.

For precision or team objectives
Choose first by how you want to play the mode, then compare aircraft in the hangar. Apple’s US App Store listing describes Ace Mode Domination as rewarding precision and manual aiming, Dogfight as focused on speed and accuracy, and Domination as strategic area control with team play. It does not recommend a particular aircraft for any mode.

Account for matchmaking before choosing a tier
Tier affects who you may face. Ten Square Games Support says matchmaking is based primarily on the highest-tier aircraft you select for battle: aircraft within about one tier of that plane may appear, regardless of upgrade level. The spread can be slightly broader when more players and tiers are involved. The support article says selecting only Tier I aircraft can avoid opponents above Tier II.

That makes the highest-tier plane in your selected lineup consequential. Before entering a battle, check which aircraft you have selected, especially if you are trying to stay in a narrower tier range. Tier alone does not predict how strong an aircraft will feel: support also identifies rarity, Hangar Workshop perks, module upgrades, and battle power-ups as factors that affect aircraft power and performance.
Compare your actual build, not just a tier-list label
Pocket Gamer’s “Best planes in Wings of Heroes” was updated October 5, 2026 for version 2.3.2. The guide covers aircraft across Tiers I–X and notes that version 2.3.2 added the Yermolayev Yer-2 M-105, Mitsubishi G4M1, Hawker Sea Fury FB. 11, and Heinkel He 111 H-16. Treat its recommendations as an editorial snapshot for that version, not a permanent ranking; aircraft availability and balance can change.

The same guide advises upgrading its listed recommendations when available, or upgrading aircraft you already own if those recommendations are unavailable. For a resource-conscious choice, compare your owned aircraft’s current speed, turning, damage, and survivability alongside its rarity and installed upgrades. The guide does not provide an official complete stat table or a controlled comparison, so its descriptions should help shortlist planes—not replace the live in-game information.

A practical selection checklist
- Pick your priority: Decide whether you value speed, turning, damage, durability, or versatility most.
- Choose a class to investigate: Use the class descriptions as a starting point, not a guarantee of how a particular aircraft performs.
- Check the selected lineup’s highest tier: Consider the matchmaking range that support describes before joining a battle.
- Compare your current builds: Account for rarity, Hangar Workshop perks, modules, and any battle power-ups—not only the plane’s name or tier.
- Factor in the mode: Consider whether the objective favors precision, speed and accuracy, or coordinated area control; no official source identifies a best plane for each mode.
- Verify before spending: Confirm the aircraft’s tier, stats, and availability in your current hangar, then upgrade an aircraft that fits your playstyle and resources.
Why another player’s plane may seem stronger
Ten Square Games Support’s article “Why do other players have better planes than I do?” points to more than tier: rarity—Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary—plus Hangar Workshop perks, module upgrades, and battle power-ups can all influence power and performance. So a tier-list recommendation is not a promise that two aircraft, or two players using the same aircraft, will perform alike.

The listing does not establish the price or value of any particular purchase, and none is needed to decide which aircraft style suits you.
