There is no dependable battery-life winner between iPhone and Samsung Galaxy without comparing specific models under the same workload. Choose by checking independent endurance tests for the exact pair, how quickly each can top up with your chargers, and whether its wireless charging fits your routine.

Which phone has better battery life, iPhone or Samsung?

You cannot determine real-world runtime from battery capacity alone. For example, Samsung lists typical capacities of 4,300mAh for the Galaxy S26 and 4,900mAh for the S26+. Those specifications do not establish how long either phone lasts against an iPhone: screen brightness, mobile signal, apps, settings and other usage all affect battery life. Samsung’s 2026 Galaxy S26 announcement also notes that actual battery life varies with network environment and usage.

For a useful comparison, identify the exact iPhone and Galaxy variants, then look for an independent test that evaluates both with the same procedure and workload. A test of one model pair is not a guarantee for another pair, or for your own mix of cellular, Wi-Fi, video, navigation and gaming. The official figures discussed here do not establish a cross-brand runtime winner.

Which charges faster, iPhone or Samsung?

“Faster” depends on whether you mean wired charging or wireless charging, and on the phone, adapter, cable, starting charge and usage during charging. Do not compare a wireless peak-power figure with a wired charge-time result as if they were the same measure.

Wired charging

Samsung says the Galaxy S26 can reach up to 55% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter, while the S26+ can reach up to 69% in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter. These are Samsung internal lab results for pre-release devices starting at 0%, with the screen, services and features off. The adapters and cable are sold separately, and Samsung says actual speeds vary. These conditional results are not a controlled comparison with an iPhone. Samsung’s announcement provides the model and test qualifications.

For an iPhone-versus-Galaxy decision, compare the exact models using comparable tests, rather than treating those Samsung results as a universal Galaxy charging rate. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the iPhone’s wired charging support; the Apple MagSafe figures below apply to wireless charging, not wired charging.

Wireless charging

Apple’s MagSafe guidance lists peak wireless charging up to 25W for certain compatible iPhone models when used with the specified MagSafe charger and a 30W-or-greater power adapter. For iPhone 17e, iPhone 15 and earlier, Apple lists up to 15W with the specified charger and a 20W-or-greater adapter; iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini can have lower limits. These are model- and setup-dependent peak claims, not promised charging speeds in every situation. Apple’s MagSafe charging guidance says actual power varies with iPhone model, adapter wattage and system conditions.

Wireless charging is convenient for a desk, bedside table or compatible car mount, but heat can affect charging. Apple says iOS may limit charging above 80% if the iPhone or charger gets too warm. If an iPhone is connected to both MagSafe and a cable, Apple says it charges through the connector.

Can I use my old charger?

Often, but the connector fitting is only one part of compatibility. Check that the adapter supports the charging standard and power level your exact phone accepts, and use a suitable cable. A phone can charge from an adapter that supplies less power than its maximum supported rate, but it may charge more slowly.

  • For a recent Galaxy: Many recent Galaxy S and Z models use USB-C and support fast charging, but the supported speed varies by model. Samsung UK says recent phones typically include a USB-C cable but not a wall adapter; packaging can differ by model and market. Check the box contents and the model’s support page before relying on an old adapter. Samsung UK’s charger guidance covers charger and cable compatibility.
  • For MagSafe on a compatible iPhone: The adapter matters to the advertised wireless peak. Apple specifies a 30W-or-greater adapter for the listed models that support up to 25W, and a 20W-or-greater adapter for the listed models capped at up to 15W, used with the specified MagSafe charger. An old adapter may still charge, but it may not meet the requirements for those peak claims. Apple’s guidance lists the combinations.

If replacing an adapter, match it to the phone’s supported protocol and rate rather than buying by wattage alone. A 30W USB-C Power Delivery adapter may suit some setups, but it is not a universal fast-charging solution: verify the phone, charger and cable requirements first.

How should wireless charging and power banks affect the choice?

Think about where and when you charge. If you usually have a socket nearby, a compatible wired adapter may be the simplest top-up. If you prefer drop-and-go charging, check the phone’s wireless standard, the charger’s alignment and the power level available for that exact model. A wireless charger’s advertised peak does not guarantee that rate throughout a session.

For long days or travel, a power bank can matter more than a small difference in headline battery specifications. Samsung Australia lists its magnetic battery pack at up to 15W Qi2 wireless charging and up to 25W wired charging. Galaxy magnetic alignment and compatibility depend on the phone and case being Qi2-ready, so confirm the exact combination before choosing it. Samsung Australia’s product page gives the pack’s stated rates.

How to make the decision for your needs

  1. Write down the exact models. Include the iPhone size or variant and the Galaxy model; do not compare a whole brand against another whole brand.
  2. Prioritize endurance evidence. Find an independent comparison using the same test method for both models. Check whether its workload resembles yours, and treat results as specific to that test and pair.
  3. Check your charging routine. Decide whether wired top-ups, a wireless stand, a car charger or a portable battery matter most. Compare only like-for-like charging modes and note required adapters and cables.
  4. Audit your existing kit. Check adapter output, charging protocol, cable connector and any case that affects wireless alignment. Confirm what is included with the specific phone in your country.
  5. Choose for the constraint you feel most often. If you regularly run out of charge, prioritize credible endurance results for your exact pair. If you mainly need a quick top-up or convenient charging, prioritize compatible wired or wireless accessories and their real-world fit.
