Choose a wireless HDMI transmitter-and-receiver kit by matching its wireless resolution and refresh rate, latency, real-world range, obstruction limits, HDCP support, and connectors to your source and display. A “4K” label alone does not promise 4K at 60 Hz, reliable operation through walls, low gaming latency, or compatibility with every protected-video setup.
What a wireless HDMI kit does—and when you need one
A typical kit sends audio and video from an HDMI source, such as a computer, set-top box, or game console, to a display without running a long HDMI cable. Connect the transmitter to the source’s HDMI output and the receiver to the TV, projector, or monitor’s HDMI input. This is the right category when you want to transport an existing HDMI signal to a remote display.
It is different from a Miracast or AirPlay receiver, which mirrors a compatible device wirelessly, and from a streaming stick, which runs apps and streaming services. Those alternatives do not necessarily carry the HDMI output of another device. For more on the distinction, see Eaton’s wireless HDMI overview.

Wireless resolution and refresh rate
Check the resolution and refresh rate the receiver actually delivers wirelessly—not just the source input or a wired pass-through. For example, Eaton/Tripp Lite lists up to 4K at 60 Hz for the B127-1A1-WHD4HH, while IOGEAR lists up to 4K at 30 Hz for the GW4K30GH60. IOGEAR lists 4K at 30 Hz wirelessly for the GWLRSSKIT4K, although its local wired pass-through is listed at 60 Hz. These are manufacturer specifications for the named models; confirm the exact SKU and manual. Eaton/Tripp Lite B127-1A1-WHD4HH, IOGEAR GW4K30GH60, IOGEAR GWLRSSKIT4K.

Latency
Latency is the delay between the source signal and what appears on screen. It matters most for gaming, cursor movement, and other interactive uses. Nyrius lists system latency of up to 88 ms for Phoenix Home; Eaton’s search-result specification lists 100–250 ms for the B127-1A1-WHD4HH. IOGEAR calls the GW4K30GH60 “near-zero latency,” but its opened product page does not give a numeric latency. The figures and description come from manufacturers and are not directly comparable measurements; look for a numeric end-to-end figure for the exact model and independent testing if responsiveness is critical. Range and obstacles
Wireless range depends on the kit’s technology and the conditions behind the manufacturer’s figure. Some models require direct line of sight; others advertise operation through walls, floors, or ceilings. Those claims are not guarantees for a particular building. Consider the path the signal must take, the placement of both units, and whether the specification changes with additional receivers.

HDCP and the complete signal chain
HDCP is content-protection technology used in some video chains. Check that the source, transmitter and receiver, and display support a compatible version for the content you intend to watch. The cited examples list either HDCP 1.4 or HDCP 2.2; their specifications do not prove universal compatibility with every streaming service, device, or configuration. If protected video fails, consult the exact kit manual and check each component in the chain.

Connectors, power, and adapters
Confirm that the transmitter accepts the source’s output and the receiver connects to the display’s input. Check how each unit is powered and whether the installation needs adapters. An adapter must support the required signal format and content-protection features, and its direction matters. Nyrius describes compatibility with certain HDMI-to-DisplayPort and other adapters but discourages digital-to-analog adapters; check its model guidance before relying on one. | Use case | Example and listed specifications | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Presentation or meeting room | Eaton/Tripp Lite B127-1A1-WHD4HH: up to 4K at 60 Hz, up to 65 ft (20 m), HDCP 1.4, and 100–250 ms latency. | That listed latency may be unsuitable for responsive gaming. Manufacturer specifications. |
| Same-room viewing or interactive use where a clear signal path is possible | IOGEAR GW4K30GH60: 60 GHz, up to 50 ft, line-of-sight only, and up to 4K at 30 Hz. | “Near-zero latency” is the manufacturer’s characterization; the opened page gives no numeric latency. The listed resolution does not establish 4K at 120 Hz. Manufacturer specifications. |
| Link through walls, floors, or ceilings | Nyrius Phoenix Home: up to 75 ft through walls, floors, and ceilings; up to 500 ft line of sight; system latency up to 88 ms. | These are manufacturer claims, not results for your building; the listed latency may matter for interactive use. Manufacturer specifications. |
| Multiple displays or a long run | IOGEAR GWLRSSKIT4K: up to 600 ft under optimal conditions with one receiver; supports up to four displays; wireless maximum listed as 4096 × 2160 at 30 Hz. | The manufacturer says each additional receiver cuts effective range by 50%. Its 60 Hz local wired pass-through is not the same as 60 Hz wireless output. Manufacturer specifications. |
| 60 GHz line-of-sight setup | OREI WUHD-PRO100-K: up to 100 ft and 4K at 30 Hz. | The manufacturer says it does not transmit through walls or obstructions. Its page showed unavailable when accessed on October 4, 2026, so verify current availability. Manufacturer specifications and availability. |
How to choose for your setup
- List the source and display connections. Identify the source’s HDMI output and the display’s HDMI input, then check whether either end requires an adapter.
- Set the minimum video mode. Write down the resolution and refresh rate you need at the remote display. For gaming, also check whether 4K120, VRR, or ALLM is required.
- Map the signal path. Measure the approximate distance and note walls, floors, ceilings, and likely receiver placement. Compare that layout with the manufacturer’s stated line-of-sight or through-wall conditions.
- Decide how much delay is acceptable. If you will play games or interact with a computer, prioritize a numeric latency specification and seek independent measurements. A marketing phrase such as “near-zero” is not a quantified result.
- Check protected-content support and power. Compare the HDCP versions and verify power, adapter, and receiver-count requirements in the exact model’s manual.
- Compare candidate models against the whole setup. Do not select on advertised range or “4K” alone; make sure the wireless output, obstruction limits, HDCP, and connections all fit.
What to check during setup and troubleshooting
- Connect the transmitter to the source’s HDMI output and the receiver to the display’s HDMI input. Confirm that both source and display support the resolution and refresh rate you want.
- For a 60 GHz kit, keep transmitter and receiver in direct line of sight and in the same room when the manufacturer specifies that walls and obstructions block operation.
- If the link is unreliable, compare the actual layout with the stated range conditions. Do not assume a line-of-sight distance applies through walls or in a busy wireless environment; account for additional receivers where the manufacturer specifies a range reduction.
- If protected video does not display, check HDCP support across the source, kit, and display, then consult the exact model manual. A matching version alone does not establish compatibility with every service or device chain.
- If you need an adapter, verify its direction, supported output mode, and compatibility with the kit before installation.
