If you want a survivors-style game with familiar Warhammer characters, Warhammer Survivors is the one to watch: as of 7 October 2026, Games Workshop says it launches on 10 November 2026, with a demo available on Steam and Xbox PC. If mining and upgrade unlocks sound more appealing, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a different take on the same broad loop. Neither official description establishes which game is better, harder, or longer.
Is Warhammer Survivors like Vampire Survivors?
Yes, in the broad sense described by its publisher: players fight growing hordes, level up, and evolve weapons, with power increasing across runs. That makes it a reasonable fit if you are looking for the escalating-survival-and-upgrades loop associated with the genre. The official descriptions do not establish how closely its moment-to-moment play matches Vampire Survivors, so treat “like” as a genre comparison, not a claim that the games feel identical.

Warhammer Survivors sets that loop in both Warhammer 40,000’s 41st Millennium and Age of Sigmar’s Mortal Realms. Games Workshop’s 6 October 2026 announcement describes more than 40 playable characters and over 70 weapons. Its Nintendo listing adds that characters have unique starting weapons and stats, while meta-progression unlocks more characters, weapons, and abilities. Warhammer Community’s announcement and Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing are the sources for those details.

Choose Warhammer Survivors for the setting and roster
This is the clearest match if the appeal is fighting as recognizable characters from Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, with weapons and factions drawn from those settings. The announced roster and arsenal are substantial on paper, but counts alone do not show how varied or balanced the characters are.

As of 7 October 2026, the game has not launched. Games Workshop announced a 10 November 2026 release and said a demo was available on Steam and Xbox PC. At announcement, the demo provided two heroes: the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya. Check the storefront before planning to play, since release and demo availability can change.
Choose Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor for mining and alien hordes
If you would rather have a mining hook than a licensed Warhammer setting, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is the more directly relevant alternative in the available official descriptions. Nintendo describes it as a single-player survivor-like auto-shooter focused on fighting alien hordes, mining riches, and unlocking upgrades. Use platform access as a deciding factor
If you want to try a game before buying, Warhammer Survivors is the option with an announced demo, reported on Steam and Xbox PC. Its announced launch platforms are PC (Steam and GOG), Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android. The announcement gives a launch date, but platform availability and storefront details should be checked again near release.

Nintendo’s listing for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor identifies a digital Switch edition with a 9 October 2026 release date. That date applies to the Nintendo listing; it does not establish availability on other platforms.

What the official details do—and do not—tell you
The available information supports a choice based on setting, stated gameplay hook, platform, and demo access. It does not provide a hands-on comparison, performance test, comparative difficulty or run-length data, or a basis for ranking overall quality. No current price is established here; check the relevant storefront for the price and availability in your region.
The Nintendo listings identify digital editions. They do not establish a physical edition or a special accessory requirement, so there is no reason to buy Warhammer miniatures or unrelated hardware just to play these games.
