Choose a hair transplant clinic in Turkey by verifying the exact facility where surgery will happen, identifying the physician responsible for your care and what each team member will do, and getting an individualized plan with written aftercare. A clinic brand, technique label, quoted graft count, or low package price cannot establish that a procedure is suitable or that its outcome is assured.
Start by verifying the facility where surgery will take place
Ask the clinic or sales representative for the legal name and street address of the treatment facility, not just the brand name or the location of a consultation office. The official HealthTürkiye platform states: “all healthcare facilities and intermediary organizations offering international medical tourism services must receive an International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate.” Check the named facility in the official HealthTürkiye material before paying or travelling. If a separate agency arranges travel or treatment, identify that organization and check its authorization separately.
The Republic of Türkiye’s international health tourism regulation describes authorized healthcare facilities as licensed public, university-affiliated, or private institutions with the required authorization. The authorization is a check that an organization is permitted to operate within the regulated framework; it is not a ranking of clinical quality and does not prove a particular surgeon’s skill, complication rate, or likely result.

Ask for the responsible physician’s full name, current medical license details, relevant training, and exact role in your case before you pay a deposit. Then request the names, credentials, and roles of everyone who will take part. A doctor featured in advertising may not be the person who performs the operation, so ask directly rather than inferring the team’s roles from a profile or promotional material.

The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) advises patients to establish who is responsible for these stages:
- Assessing hair loss, making the diagnosis, and recommending whether surgery is appropriate.
- Planning the treatment and designing the hairline.
- Harvesting donor follicles and creating recipient sites.
- Administering anesthesia, monitoring you, and managing medical issues or adverse reactions.
- Providing postoperative care and responding to concerns after the procedure.
ISHRS warns that unlicensed personnel performing substantial surgical aspects can put patients at risk. This is professional patient guidance, not a statement of Turkish scope-of-practice law; the rules on delegation can vary by jurisdiction. Your practical check is to get a clear, written account of who does each task and to verify the physician’s identity and credentials independently before booking.
Compare what the technique names actually mean
FUE and FUT describe different ways of harvesting donor hair. DHI is used to describe an implantation approach or tool, rather than a separate harvesting method. Ask the physician to explain which specific steps the clinic means by its terminology, including who makes any incisions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Term | What it describes | What to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| FUE (follicular unit excision/extraction) | Follicular units are removed individually from a donor area, generally the back and sides of the scalp, according to ISHRS. | Ask how the physician assessed your donor area, what harvesting plan is proposed, and what scarring tradeoffs apply to your case. |
| FUT (follicular unit transplantation, or strip method) | A strip of donor scalp is removed and the follicles are separated for transplantation, according to ISHRS. HealthTürkiye notes that FUT may be used when larger amounts are needed and describes a higher scarring risk. | Ask why the physician considers this approach appropriate for your donor characteristics and goals, and how its scar pattern fits your preferences. |
| DHI (direct hair implantation) | ISHRS describes DHI as a term for implantation after extraction or for use of an implanter—not a distinct hair-transplant method. ISHRS states: “In either case DHI is not a hair transplant method and should not be marketed as such.” | Ask whether the implanter is dull and places grafts into pre-made incisions or is sharp and creates an incision while implanting. Establish who performs incision-making steps. |
ISHRS states: “There is no such thing as ‘scarless’ surgery in hair transplantation.” Both FUE and FUT leave scars. Claims that a technique name guarantees a scar-free result, superior density, or a universally better outcome are not a sound basis for choosing a clinic. The appropriate plan depends on an individual medical assessment, including the diagnosis, donor area, hair characteristics, goals, and long-term outlook for hair loss.
Rank #3
Require an individualized assessment and written rationale
Before agreeing to a graft count or technique, ask the physician to explain the diagnosis and the reasoning behind the proposed plan. HealthTürkiye’s patient-facing overview describes assessing donor condition, the extent of hair loss, and the patient’s expectations. It also notes that temporary or hormonally or environmentally caused hair loss may call for a different approach. A fixed number offered before a meaningful assessment does not explain whether surgery is appropriate or how the donor supply will be managed.
Ask the physician to address the likely limitations, relevant risks, alternatives to surgery, the possibility of continued hair loss, and whether future treatment may be considered. HealthTürkiye gives a general estimate of 6–8 hours for an operation; this is not a guaranteed duration for an individual procedure or a measure of quality. Have the clinic explain what the estimate means for your own planned treatment.

There is no established universal best method or graft maximum in the cited guidance. If a physician considers more than one plan reasonable, compare how each fits your diagnosis and donor area, the scar tradeoff, the physician’s role, and the follow-up arrangements—not which option has the most persuasive label.
Confirm aftercare before you travel
Get the aftercare arrangements in writing while you can still decide whether to proceed. The international health tourism regulation addresses patient registration and the provision of clinical information, a discharge summary, and post-discharge needs in the patient’s language. Ask what documents and instructions you will receive, who will be available after you return home, how urgent concerns will be handled, and whether the treating physician will remain involved in follow-up.

Red flags that warrant pausing the booking
- The clinic will not identify the operating physician or explain the team’s roles. Do not rely on a doctor’s name in marketing if the clinic will not say who performs the clinical and surgical stages.
- The facility’s legal name or authorization details are withheld. Ask for the exact treatment address and verify the named organization in official material before paying or travelling.
- A plan or graft count is offered without a meaningful medical assessment. Request a physician’s explanation of the diagnosis, donor assessment, risks, alternatives, and goals.
- The clinic promises a “scarless” transplant or presents DHI as a wholly separate transplant method. Those claims conflict with the terminology and patient guidance described above.
- No clear discharge information or post-return contact is available. Resolve who will provide records, instructions, and help with complications before surgery.
These are prompts to verify information and decide whether to proceed; they are not proof of misconduct by any named provider. The sources cited here do not establish a reliable current comparison of Turkish clinics’ complication rates, graft survival, revisions, or patient satisfaction. Do not treat testimonials or unsupported rankings as substitutes for that kind of evidence.
