Short answer: choose a gaming PC for games you can play now, the resolution and frame rate you want, and your budget—not for an unverified promise that it will run GTA VI. Rockstar’s official pages reviewed October 7, 2026 list GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 release date; they do not list a PC version or PC system requirements. No PC configuration can currently be promised to run GTA VI.
What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA VI on PC
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists a November 19, 2026 release and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. Its platforms and editions support page, last updated August 18, 2026, also names those consoles for pre-orders. Neither reviewed page lists a PC version or PC requirements. That is a statement about what those pages currently publish, not proof that a PC version will never be announced.
So, if you are asking whether to buy a PC specifically for GTA VI, there is no confirmed specification to shop against. Avoid systems advertised as “GTA VI-ready” unless and until Rockstar publishes requirements that support the claim. You can still choose a PC for current games and general PC use, but its ability to run GTA VI is unknown.

Start with the games and performance you want
“Demanding games” do not share one universal PC specification. Requirements vary by title, and a game’s minimum and recommended requirements are not interchangeable. Before comparing computers, write down the games you intend to play now and the performance you want from each.

- Games: Check each title’s official PC requirements. Use recommended requirements as a more useful comparison when you want a better experience than simply meeting the stated minimum.
- Resolution: Decide whether your target is 1080p, 1440p, or 4K. A system that suits one resolution may not suit another.
- Frame rate: Choose a target that fits your games and monitor. Do not assume a published requirement guarantees a particular frame rate; consult the game maker’s details and credible, game-specific testing where available.
- Budget and form factor: Set a spending limit and decide whether a desktop or laptop better fits your space and portability needs. There is no universal winner: compare the actual system, its support, and its suitability for your circumstances.
These choices matter more than a generic “high-end” label. Without a budget, target resolution, frame-rate goal, and list of games, there is no responsible way to name one exact PC or component tier as the right choice.
Compare the parts that determine compatibility
For every candidate PC, record the exact components and compare them with the requirements for the games you plan to play. Do not rely on a seller’s broad performance label in place of the underlying specifications.

Graphics card and video memory
Note the exact graphics device and its video memory. Rockstar’s compatibility guide explains how to find the display-device and approximate video-memory details on an existing PC. Compare the result with each game’s graphics requirements; a GPU recommendation cannot be made for GTA VI until Rockstar publishes PC requirements.
Processor and system memory
Check the exact processor model and the amount and configuration of system memory. Match them to the relevant game’s requirements rather than assuming that more memory or a newer-sounding processor alone ensures a particular result.

Storage and operating system
Confirm that the PC has the storage type and free capacity required by each game, and that its operating system meets the game’s stated requirement. Those details are title-specific and can matter even when the graphics card appears suitable.
Upgrade options and support
If you may upgrade later, check what the particular desktop or laptop allows and what support the seller or manufacturer provides. The official sources cited here do not establish one system type or upgrade path as best for every buyer.

Use GTA V Enhanced as an example—not a GTA VI forecast
Rockstar publishes PC requirements for GTA V Enhanced, which can illustrate how to read a game’s specification. Its customer-support page lists 8 GB of RAM as the minimum, 16 GB of dual-channel RAM as recommended, and 105 GB of SSD storage. Those are GTA V Enhanced requirements only; they are not GTA VI requirements, a prediction of them, or a guarantee about how another game will perform.

Rockstar also notes on its GTA V PC system requirements page: “Over time downloadable content and programming changes will change the system requirements for this game.” This caveat concerns GTA V and its requirements; it does not provide information about GTA VI.

Check a PC you already own before replacing it
Rockstar’s PC compatibility guide recommends using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to inspect key system details. On Windows, open the Start menu, type dxdiag, and run the tool. Review the operating-system, processor, memory, display-device, video-memory, and driver information, then compare those details with the official requirements for each game you want to play.
- Check the game’s official PC requirements. Note its operating system, processor, memory, graphics, and storage entries.
- Run
dxdiag. Use the operating-system and System information to record your OS, processor, and memory. - Inspect the display information. Review the display-device and approximate video-memory details, along with driver information.
- Compare requirement by requirement. Identify which entries meet, exceed, or fall short of the game’s published minimum and recommended specifications.
This check helps assess games with published PC requirements. It cannot determine whether the PC will run GTA VI while Rockstar has not published PC requirements.
A practical buying decision
Buy a gaming PC when you have matched its actual components to the games you can play now and the performance goals you care about. Treat GTA VI compatibility as unconfirmed, not as a feature a retailer can establish through a label. If GTA VI is the only reason you are considering a PC, waiting for an official PC announcement and requirements avoids buying against a guess.
