Choose a cozy life sim by the kind of spooky season you want: a time-limited Halloween event, a farm with a haunted festival, playful seasonal activities, or a gentle daily routine with ghosts. Of these four games, Disney Dreamlight Valley has the most explicitly dated Halloween event in 2026; Stardew Valley is the clearest farm-first choice, Ooblets is the most whimsical, and Cozy Grove is built around helping spirits at a relaxed pace. Check event dates and platform availability before choosing.
Start with the kind of spooky season you want
- A current, character-led Halloween event: Pick Disney Dreamlight Valley if you want Disney and Pixar characters, quests, decorating, and a Halloween event with stated 2026 dates.
- Farming with a haunted seasonal festival: Pick Stardew Valley if tending a farm and building community relationships should remain the main activities.
- Colorful, oddball seasonal fun: Pick Ooblets for a mix of farming, town life, creature collection, and dance battles.
- Gentle ghosts and a daily ritual: Pick Cozy Grove if helping spirits, collecting, crafting, and decorating sound appealing, especially with a defined amount of new daily quest content.
“Creepy cozy” can be a useful storefront search term: Nintendo’s US Halloween collection uses the label for games including Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and Cozy Grove. Disney Dreamlight Valley: a dated event with familiar characters
The Steam description presents Disney Dreamlight Valley as a cozy life-sim adventure in a Disney and Pixar world. Its Season of Scares update was announced for September 23, 2026, and the event announcement describes six weeks of weekly challenges and rewards centered on Oogie Boogie. According to that announcement, you must begin the first quest before November 4, 2026, to unlock the full questline; otherwise, you must wait until next year. Because those dates matter, verify that the event is still available when you read this.

Stardew Valley: farming first, haunted maze second
Stardew Valley is an “open-ended country-life RPG,” in Steam’s description. Growing crops, raising animals, crafting, building relationships, and participating in seasonal festivals are among its core activities. The haunted maze adds Halloween flavor to its in-game calendar without making the game’s appeal depend on a dated real-world event. The Steam listing also supports multiplayer.

Ooblets: whimsical activities and a spooky homestead
Ooblets mixes farming and town life with collecting creatures and competing in dance battles. Its Steam description mentions Springtime, Halloween, and Winter events, and describes the option to turn your homestead into a “spooky sanctuary.” That makes it a good fit for playful seasonal atmosphere rather than a game whose main pitch is horror. The description does not establish dates for a 2026 Halloween event, so do not assume one is currently active.

Cozy Grove: a haunted setting with daily quest pacing
In Cozy Grove, you camp on an ever-changing haunted island and help its local ghosts. Spirit stories, crafting decorations, collecting, and fishing shape the experience. Spry Fox describes the campaign as spanning months and says the game provides 30–60 minutes of new quest content per real-world day. Once those quests are done, optional activities such as fishing, crafting, and decorating remain available.

Check event timing and platform before you commit
A built-in seasonal festival, an event with a deadline, and a general Halloween theme are different things. Stardew Valley’s haunted maze is described as part of its game calendar; Dreamlight Valley’s 2026 event has a deadline for starting its first quest; and Ooblets’ Steam description mentions Halloween events without stating 2026 dates. Cozy Grove’s appeal is its haunted setting and daily story cadence, rather than a dated Halloween event in the cited description.
Also confirm the platform, edition, regional listing, and hardware compatibility you need. Nintendo’s Halloween collection is for the US storefront, while the linked Steam pages establish PC listings; storefront catalogs and availability can change. Check the current listing for your region before buying.
