To check service at a specific home, enter its address in Starlink’s official availability map and, in the United States, the FCC National Broadband Map. Starlink shows whether service is available now or coming soon; the FCC map lists provider-reported technologies, including fiber. Treat both as screening tools, then confirm that the provider will accept an order and verify price and installation details.
Check Starlink availability at your address
- Open the Starlink Availability Map.
- Enter your service address and select the matching suggestion.
- Read the result. Starlink labels service “Available” when it is available now and “Coming Soon” when coverage or regulatory approval is pending.
- Review the plans shown for that location and confirm current ordering and installation terms directly with Starlink.
Address availability is separate from whether your property is suitable for installation. Starlink says the dish needs an unobstructed view of the sky; use the Starlink app to assess a possible installation location.
Check for fiber in the United States
- Open the FCC National Broadband Map.
- Enter the street address in “Search by Address” and select the matching result. If the address is in the FCC location database, the guide says it appears in capital letters below the search bar.
- Select the mapped location point, then inspect its fixed broadband providers and technologies. Look for “fiber.”
- Review each provider’s maximum advertised download and upload speeds reported for that location.
- Contact the provider to confirm it accepts orders for the address and to check current price, equipment, installation requirements, and timing.
If the map does not find a street address, the FCC guide says to search by town and state or choose Location and zoom to the property manually. A mapped point represents a building or structure, such as a home, apartment or condo building, or small business.
How to interpret the results
Starlink’s status is an availability signal
The Starlink map distinguishes service available now from coverage or regulatory approval that is still pending. Plans and order eligibility can change, so use the result for the address you selected and verify current terms before ordering.

The FCC map reports provider-submitted information
The FCC map shows fixed broadband services reported by internet service providers through its Broadband Data Collection. Its fixed-service listings can include fiber, cable, DSL, satellite, and fixed wireless. For a selected location, it displays providers, technologies, and maximum advertised download and upload speeds.
Fixed providers report service location by location and submit data twice each year. The FCC says the map is updated continuously through verification, provider submissions, location-data updates, and public input. See the FCC’s explanation of what is on the map.

A listing is not a guarantee
The FCC says its map shows availability, not network performance, affordability, or adoption. A provider listing or advertised speed does not guarantee actual performance, a particular price, or that the provider will accept an order. The FCC explains this distinction in its availability-challenge guidance.
Compare the options at the address
| What to check | What the result tells you | What to confirm with the provider |
|---|---|---|
| Exact-address eligibility | Whether Starlink’s map shows service available now, or whether the FCC map lists a provider for the selected location. | Whether the provider will accept an order for that exact address. |
| Technology | Whether the FCC fixed-broadband listing identifies the service as fiber or another technology. | That the provider’s offered service at the address matches the listing. |
| Advertised speeds | The maximum download and upload speeds the provider reports for that location on the FCC map. | Available plans and the terms that apply to the address; advertised speeds are not a performance guarantee. |
| Order and installation | The maps can help identify services to investigate but do not establish all order terms. | Current price, equipment, installation requirements and timing; for Starlink, whether the property has a suitable sky view. |
The map information does not establish actual comparative speed, latency, reliability, or price for your address. Compare confirmed offers from providers rather than assuming one technology will perform better at a particular home.

What to do if an FCC result looks wrong
If a home or small-business location is missing or incorrect, the FCC provides a Location Challenge. If the service information appears inaccurate, you can submit an Availability Challenge. A challenge disputes information shown on the map; it does not replace asking the provider whether it can serve the address.
For instructions on searching, selecting locations, and using the map, see the FCC’s guide to using the National Broadband Map, updated May 15, 2025.
