To check an online bingo site, identify the gambling regulator responsible for your location, then search that regulator’s official register and match the exact company, bingo activity and website domain. A licence badge or a licence held by a related but different business is not enough. In Great Britain, the UK Gambling Commission provides a public register for this check; other jurisdictions have their own rules and authorities.
1. Identify which regulator applies to you
Start with the country or territory where you live and where the operator offers its service. A licence from one jurisdiction does not automatically establish that a site is authorised to serve customers in another. Find the relevant authority through an official government or regulator website, rather than relying on a regulator logo displayed by the bingo operator.
The examples below are not a worldwide legal map. The UK Gambling Commission’s guidance applies to Great Britain, while the Malta Gaming Authority maintains a separate licensee register. A Malta listing does not, by itself, answer whether an operator may serve you under the rules where you live.

Before depositing, write down the full website address and the business or trading name shown in the site footer, terms or licence page. Then use the regulator’s own register—not just the operator’s claims—to check those details.

For Great Britain
The UK Gambling Commission says online gambling businesses must display licence information and link to its public register. Its player guidance recommends checking whether you can click through to the register and whether it shows the business’s licence. Follow that link if available, but verify the resulting entry on the Commission’s site.
The Commission says bingo for commercial gain in Great Britain generally requires a licence, including bingo offered online or remotely. For Malta
The Malta Gaming Authority’s Licensee Register offers searches by licensee name, authorisation status, URL or gaming service. Use it only as a lookup for that authority’s records; first establish whether Malta’s rules are relevant to the service offered to you.
3. Match the licence to the site you are using
A register result is useful only if it corresponds to the exact operator and site. Compare the following details rather than stopping when you find a familiar company name:

- Legal entity and trading name: Check that the company named in the site’s terms or footer matches the register entry. A trading name may differ, so check declared trading names too.
- Activity: Confirm that the licence covers remote or online bingo, not merely another gambling activity.
- Domain: Match the complete website address you intend to use against the domain declared on the register. A licence for another website does not verify the address in your browser.
- Status and regulatory action: Check the entry’s current status and any action shown. Register information can change, so check it when making your decision.
For Great Britain, the Commission’s register information can include the licensee’s head-office address, licensed activities and start dates, declared domains and trading names, and regulatory action. The Commission also says a licensed operator should show licence information on its website or app and link to the register. See its sector guidance for details.
4. Read the terms before you deposit
A licence check does not tell you whether a promotion or product’s conditions suit you. Before adding money, read the terms for the bingo product and any introductory offer. Pay particular attention to restrictions on promotions, any wagering conditions presented, and the rules and timescales for withdrawals. The Commission specifically advises players to review bonus restrictions and the terms for each gambling product; its pre-gamble guide explains this step.

5. Know what a licence can—and cannot—tell you
A regulator’s licence is an important authorisation check, not a guarantee that every transaction, customer-service interaction or game outcome will be problem-free. The Commission describes its licensing objectives as keeping crime out of gambling, ensuring gambling is conducted fairly and openly, and protecting children and vulnerable people from harm or exploitation. Those are regulatory aims, not a promise of zero risk for an individual player.
Likewise, a padlock or HTTPS indicator, payment-brand logo, testimonial, game-provider logo or review-site ranking is not a substitute for confirming gambling authorisation in the official register. The register check also is not a technical security audit of the site.

6. Pause if you cannot verify the listing
If the regulator’s register is unavailable, the domain or company does not match, or you cannot confirm that the licence covers online bingo, do not deposit on the strength of a badge. Pause and seek clarification from the relevant regulator through its official website.
If a problem arises, keep account details, correspondence and transaction records. Use the regulator’s official complaint route and consult its guidance on protecting money or difficulty withdrawing winnings.
