Check the Amazon listing’s price history for the exact product and configuration before you decide. Compare today’s price with its recent 30-, 90-, and—where available—365-day history, then weigh that price against your budget. A discount badge or reference price alone cannot tell you whether an offer is worthwhile.
Check the price history for the exact listing

Open the Amazon product page for the item you intend to buy. Confirm that the product and selected configuration match the offer you are evaluating; history for a different model or variant may not be useful.

On the product detail page, select Price history next to the price, if the link appears. Amazon also says Alexa for Shopping can show price history and answer price-history questions from a product page. Its guidance describes 30-, 90-, and 365-day views. Amazon’s price-history guidance

Look at the current price against the chart. Is it below, near, or above the product’s ordinary recent range? Do earlier low prices recur, or does the chart show only a brief dip? A short-lived historic low is not necessarily the product’s usual price.

Amazon says price history is available to customers in the U.S., UK, Canada, and India. The same article says 365-day history was rolling out in the U.S., UK, and India. Availability can vary by marketplace and rollout, so check the history available on the listing rather than assuming every product has the same time range. Amazon reported that more than 50 million customers had checked price history since its 2024 launch and that customers checked it an average of three times a month; those are company-reported usage figures, not evidence that any particular deal is good. Understand Amazon’s reference-price labels
A reference price can provide context, but it is not a substitute for the listing’s price history. Amazon defines its labels this way in its deal guidance:

Amazon says it works to offer deals at the lowest price in at least the previous 30 days. It also says major deal events often have the lowest prices of the year. Use another tracker if you want a second view or an alert
Price-history services can help you inspect a product’s past prices or watch for a price you are willing to pay. They provide another view and a way to track prices; using one does not by itself prove a deal is good.

Make the decision against your own target price
There is no universal percentage-off rule that makes an Amazon deal a good buy. Set a price that fits your budget, then compare it with the item’s history. If today’s offer is attractive relative to that history and within your budget, buying may make sense. If it is not, wait or set a target-price alert and reconsider when the price changes.

If you are comparing two offers, make sure they are for the same product and configuration. Check each offer against its own price history and note which time ranges are available. For the terms and final cost you would actually pay, inspect the offer and checkout details directly; the price-history and reference-price information does not settle every component of a transaction.
